4-Pack 5/8-inch x 20' Nylon Dock Lines — Double-Braided with 15-inch Splice
Product description
What you get: a set of four 5/8-inch diameter, 20-foot-long dock lines made from marine-grade nylon. Each rope arrives with a 15-inch hand-spliced eye already formed for quick attachment.
Construction and materials: these lines use high-strength, double-braided nylon for a balance of elasticity and load handling. The braid provides superior shock-load absorption and improved resistance to chafe and abrasion compared with single-braid alternatives.
End and splice details: every eye is hand-spliced, with the throat and bitter end reinforced by whipping and sewn finishes to keep the splice secure. The cut ends are heat-treated to minimize fraying and extend service life under frequent use.
Performance and use: the low-stretch characteristics help dampen surge and impact forces, while the nylon fiber still offers enough give to reduce peak loads on cleats and boat fittings. These lines are suitable for docking and mooring in lakes, rivers, coastal marinas, and for longer-term tie-ups alongside piers or other boats.
Recommended vessels: the 5/8-inch diameter is commonly used for vessels roughly in the 30–45 foot range, including yachts, larger sailboats, cruisers, powerboats, pontoons and many fishing boats. They work well as spring, bow, and stern lines when matched to your boat’s fittings and mooring conditions.
Care and maintenance: rinse with fresh water after exposure to salt, inspect the splices and whipped areas before each season, and replace if you observe excessive abrasion, core separation, or fraying despite the heat-treated ends.
Pros
- High-strength double-braided nylon construction
- 15-inch hand-spliced eye with reinforced throat
- Heat-treated ends and sewn whipping reduce fraying
Cons
- Heavier than lightweight polypropylene alternatives
- Not intended for very large commercial ships
- Single length/diameter may not suit every situation
VerdictThese 5/8-inch by 20-foot double-braided nylon dock lines provide dependable, low-stretch performance for recreational and small commercial craft. The 15-inch hand-spliced eye, reinforced throat and bitter end, plus heat-treated rope tips, give reliable durability and simple handling. They absorb shock loads while resisting abrasion and weather, making them a sensible choice for 30–45 foot boats a

Held my 55ft yacht through a storm
Fitted these on my 55ft Sea Ray (about 40,000 lbs) — stern and bow — a few weeks ago. The spliced loops look solid. During a recent storm nearby boats broke free, but these lines held. Very impressed.
