Marine
Marine Dashboard Boat Compass with Night Lighting and Declination
Product description
This marine dashboard compass is designed to indicate the direction your vessel is moving—its red index line points to your forward heading rather than the ambient magnetic field. The unit should be mounted level so the compass card can rotate freely; avoid placing it near magnets, metal objects, or electronics that could skew its readings.
A red night-light is built into the compass and is activated by connecting the included wires to an external 12V power source. If you only need daytime use, the illumination wiring may be left disconnected. The light provides clear visibility in low-light conditions.
Two adjustment holes allow for fine-tuning magnetic declination in both east-west and north-south axes. These adjustments help improve heading accuracy for users who require closer alignment, though typical everyday use may not need any tweaking.
The compass comes with double-sided adhesive tape and screws for mounting to a dashboard. The housing is made of plastic and the instrument is compact—small enough for kayaks and smaller vessels—so it’s meant for easy installation and basic navigation tasks.
Customer support options include replacement or refund if the product isn’t satisfactory. A final tip: if the card keeps spinning after rapid turns, allow it a moment to settle. Large errors typically result from nearby metals or electronics, so remove potential interference and retest.

Reflects its low price
Build feels cheap and longevity is uncertain, but it does the basic job.

Product arrived exactly as described.

Responsive but sensitive to vibration
Smooth, sensitive movements and about the size between a golf and racquet ball. On my diesel trawler engine vibration caused constant oscillation, rendering it useless underway. Also received warped plastic side screws. Works fine as a dock reference though.

Good for kayak navigation
No adjustments needed for my kayak. Not degree-perfect but fine for general headings. Occasionally needs a tap. Small and readable a few feet away; light is bright but useful. Surviving saltwater so far.

Works well for now
Bought this for my boat and had limited mounting space. Plastic feel but good value. Matched my phone's north and arrived quickly. Hope it lasts.

Bracket could be stronger
Light is good and the compass works, but the mounting bracket feels a bit weak.

Unable to calibrate
Compact and nicely designed, delivered fast, but I couldn't get acceptable accuracy. No metal around and still won't calibrate—also failed when tried in my car.

Not accurate for my vehicle
Did not provide reliable readings on my Jeep dash—couldn't get it to work accurately.

Handy little deck compass
Nice compact unit. I sealed the cable exit even though there are drain holes. Wired it with a plug and a small 9V for night use—lights up reliably.
