Walkabout Dog Puzzle Slow Feeder — Adjustable Treat Dispenser Toy
Product description
All-in-one feeding and enrichment toy: The Walkabout is a rolling treat dispenser designed to make mealtime an active game. As it wobbles and rolls, dogs must nudge and chase it to release kibble or treats, turning feeding into a low-impact workout and mental challenge.
Adjustable dispensing mechanism: The toy includes a rotator dial with five hole sizes so you can control how much and how fast food comes out. There’s also a lock-out zone on the shell to stop dispensing when you need to store it or travel. The openings accept dry kibble, small morsels, and compatible puzzle treats.
What’s included and sizes: Each package contains the Walkabout unit with the adjustable dial and a secure cap. The dial’s five settings accommodate a wide range of pellet and treat dimensions so small-breed pellets to standard kibble can be used. The product is aimed at small to medium dogs and performs well with smaller breed portions.
Material and durability: Constructed from quiet, scuff-resistant rubber, the outer shell is designed to tolerate indoor and outdoor play without making noise or damaging floors. The interior and rotating parts are built from robust plastics to hold up to regular rolling and nudging.
Cleaning and care: The Walkabout disassembles for cleaning; the components are dishwasher-safe on the top rack. Regular rinsing of the threads and crevices is advised to prevent crumbs from building up that might impede opening and closing.
How to use it: Fill the chamber with your dog’s kibble or treats, select a hole-size setting, and let your dog nose and push the toy to extract food. Adjust the dial over time to increase challenge and keep sessions engaging; use the lock-out when refilling or storing.
Pros
- Adjustable openings fit a variety of kibble and treat sizes
- Engages both mind and body with wobbling roll action
- Quiet, scuff-resistant materials and dishwasher-safe parts
Cons
- Threads can trap crumbs and become hard to open if not cleaned
- Some users report difficulty opening after repeated use
- Smallest settings may still be large for very tiny kibble
VerdictAn engaging slow-feeder that combines mental stimulation and physical activity. The rotator dial lets you tailor difficulty for small to medium dogs, and the wobble action keeps pets moving. Good build and simple maintenance make it a strong pick, though some users report issues with grime in the threads and occasional difficulty opening after heavy use.

Everyone in the pack loves it
Saw this on social and ordered one to try. Ended up buying three — two for my house and one for my kids. It’s sturdy and the dial handles different treat sizes. I mix kibble with snacks and every dog in our group enjoys it. We bought the smaller size for our Chihuahua and it still works for our German Shepherd; the larger version I got for my son’s big dogs is a hit too. Great for keeping them occupied during hot Arizona afternoons. Wish I’d gotten these sooner.

Perfect for a high-energy pup
Our 4-month-old Golden adores this. I fill it with kibble and he spends ages rolling it to get his meal — wears him down and keeps him busy. Tip: clean the screw threads after each session. Crumbs can jam the mechanism and make it hard to open, which is why I stopped short of five stars.

Fantastic at first, now stuck closed
This was brilliant at slowing my dog down and entertaining her quietly. Over time the cap became very hard to open and close. I washed it and even tried vegetable oil to loosen it, but it’s now unusable because I can’t open it at all. Shame, because the concept and performance were excellent initially.

Worked well but durability concerns
I liked that it got our dog moving and distracted him during dinner prep — the smallest opening can keep him busy 30–40 minutes. But after about nine days it became difficult to open no matter how much I cleaned it; the grooves gummed up. It finally popped apart and he chewed a piece before I could take it away, so I had to discard it. It also seems to collect hair and dirt easily with our husky-German shepherd mix. Overall useful but short-lived for us.

Great for small dogs with tweaks
Bought the small Walkabout for my two mini longhaired dachshunds and they enjoy nudging it around. A couple of improvements would help: the smallest hole is still too big for extra-tiny kibble, so I drilled a smaller opening for trials. Also, the grip area makes it easy for clever dogs to pick up the toy by the handle and self-dispense inside a crate, so I had to block access. With a few changes this is near-perfect for little breeds.
