Kaytee Timothy Hay — High-Fiber Hay for Rabbits & Small Pets, 96 oz
Product description
This product is 100% Timothy hay, harvested and selected specifically for small companion animals. Each package contains a 96-ounce (6 lb) bag of hand-sorted hay that emphasizes long fibers and a favorable leaf-to-stem ratio to encourage grazing and promote dental wear.
The hay is grown and processed without the use of pesticides, artificial preservatives, or genetic modification. Packaged to preserve freshness, the contents include a mix of leafy and stemmy pieces typical of Timothy grass, intended to provide high fiber content to support healthy digestion.
Use this Timothy hay as the main component of daily feeding routines: offer free-choice to rabbits and guinea pigs to maintain gut motility, and supply appropriate portions for chinchillas, gerbils, and hamsters as part of a varied diet. The long strands encourage natural foraging and chewing behavior.
Kaytee has a long history in small-animal nutrition; this hay is one of their staple forage offerings crafted for owners who want a large, ready-to-use supply of high-fiber bedding/food. Store in a cool, dry place and check for dust and small broken pieces when serving to pets with sensitive respiratory systems.

Large bags, pets prefer it
These big bags are great for my guinea pigs. The hay usually arrives fresh and the pigs choose it over other options. Only once did a bag arrive torn in transit, which was the delivery, not the producer. Saves me trips to the store.

My chinchilla loves it
Huge amount in the bag — well worth it. My chinchilla is very fond of this hay and it seems healthy for him.

Plenty of hay and sturdy packaging
I buy this regularly — my guinea pig adores it and the bag itself is thick and holds the hay securely. You get a lot for the amount you receive.

Little pigs absolutely adore it
I have two guinea pigs who are spoiled and they both love this hay. The quality is good — one prefers the flowery bits, the other eats everything. It suits their picky tastes perfectly.

Favored by my pigs, though texture varies
My guinea pigs have always liked this hay and it’s good for their digestion. Quality isn’t always consistent — sometimes the fuzzy bits are scarce or the hay is cut too fine — but you do get a generous amount overall.

Great when fresh, but inconsistent
I love Timothy hay but these bags are hit or miss. About half the time it’s bright, soft and low-dust; the other half it’s dusty and full of small broken pieces. When it’s good it’s a bargain — a lot of hay for a little money — and my guinea pigs eat it eagerly. If a bag is dusty be sure to shake it out outdoors and only give the best parts to your pets.

Good overall value, some dust near bottom
I’ve purchased the 12 lb equivalent multiple times and it’s consistently a good value. Packaging keeps it fresh with soft, green hay on top and a pleasant scent. The top layer usually has long, soft pieces ideal for feeding, but deeper in the bag there are more broken bits and tougher strands. There’s also noticeable hay dust near the bottom which makes me sneeze when scooping. Despite that, the quantity and quality make it worth repurchasing.

Used to be thicker, now lighter
I buy this regularly and it used to be very good. Lately the amount feels reduced and it’s dustier, so the bag doesn’t seem as full or as thick as before.

Very dusty
This hay has a lot of dust. Quite a bit gets wasted. The hay itself is fine, but with so much dust the weight doesn’t feel accurate.

Strands are short and dusty
The pieces are quite small and the hay is somewhat dusty.

Worried after finding synthetic-looking strands
I’ve ordered several large bags over the last two years and never had a problem until my most recent bag. Near the bottom I found pieces that didn’t feel like real hay — thin, shiny shreds that remind me of decorative grass or plastic. It reflected light and had an unnatural texture. I’m concerned about feeding this to my rabbit and unsure how often this has occurred unnoticed. I took photos and now hesitate to buy more until I know it was an isolated incident.
