MCHNHUA Large Hamster Cage — 27.6" x 17", 470 sq in Floor
Product description
What you receive is a modular, collapsible habitat composed of a white base frame, transparent PET walls, a frosted privacy rear panel, a top mesh roof, removable lid segments, waterproof elevated legs, and two locking mechanisms (top button + front rotary knob).
Floor area measures roughly 27.6" x 17" delivering about 470 square inches (≈3000 cm²) to allow running, tunnels, nesting and enrichment items within the horizontal plane recommended for active small rodents.
Interior height is 13.4" (34 cm), chosen to preserve floor space while enabling comfortable access and mid‑height furnishings; the profile makes it easier to set the unit on shelves, desks or sideboards where taller towers would not fit.
A 2.5" (6.5 cm) deep detachable base tray simplifies daily cleaning and bedding swaps. It supports a generous substrate layer for dwarf species and lifts bedding away from the floor for hygiene and odor control.
The rear wall uses a translucent frosted panel tailored for placement against walls. This reduces sudden light and motion from behind the cage, helping shy animals feel less exposed and lowering stress during rest periods.
Ventilation is provided by a full top mesh roof for constant cross‑flow air exchange. Solid side panels shield occupants from direct drafts and help contain loose shavings during digging behavior.
The frame is designed for rapid tool‑free assembly and disassembly; panels slot together in a modular way so the habitat can be put together or collapsed in minutes for cleaning, moving or storage.
Raised legs measure about 2.8" (7 cm) and are constructed from waterproof material to keep the base off cold or damp floors and to allow easy access for mopping beneath the unit.
Access control combines a top locking button and a front rotating knob to prevent accidental openings by curious pets. The transparent PET panels are impact‑resistant and lightweight while offering a clean, minimalist appearance that blends into modern interiors.
Recommended for dwarf and Robo hamsters, small hedgehogs and smaller reptiles like leopard geckos, the setup is intended as a spacious, professional home that balances visibility with privacy.

Simple assembly, happy hamster
Putting it together was quick and easy. Seeing my hamster stretch out and play made it worth buying.

Rattles when the wheel runs
Size and build are nice, but the panels are a bit thin. When the hamster uses the running wheel the whole cage vibrates and makes a rattling sound. Any tips to reduce the noise?

Room to grow is important
I bought this for a baby golden hamster. Though it seemed oversized at first, it’s wise—hamsters grow fast and need space to avoid strain on their spine. Bigger living area helps them develop properly.

Surprisingly spacious and easy to use
My long‑haired hamster (about 18 cm) had plenty of room — the footprint was larger than I expected and perfect for her. Assembly was straightforward: raise the sides then click the top on. The front opening is wide so I rarely need to lift the top to reach inside. Note that ventilation is mainly on the top and upper sides, so attach water bottles carefully if you plan to mount one on the wall side. The deep tray lets me pile bedding 5–10 cm and my ham built a huge cozy nest — she's sleeping soundly. If you have space for a big cage, this one really lets them explore.

Good concept but durability worries
Delivery was fast. During assembly the top grid was a little hard to seat and I cracked a piece; the panels feel thin and flex when pressed. The opaque back is easy to clean, and the space is great, but I worry about a strong chewer escaping. There are small gaps at the bottom corners that my hamster noses at and it makes a lot of scratching sounds at night. Also, during cleanings she tries to dash out through the side door, so be careful with fingers and fall risk.
