Cuisinart 2-Quart Brushed Stainless Steel Whistling Teakettle
Product description
What’s included: one 2-quart stainless steel teakettle with a fitted whistle lid and integrated pour spout lever.
Materials and finish: the body is polished brushed stainless steel with a contemporary matte look. The handle is shaped for comfort and the components that contact your hand or the spout mechanism are made from BPA-free materials.
How it’s used: fill to the desired level, place on a compatible stovetop burner and heat until the whistle sounds to signal boiling. The spout lid opens with a fingertip lever on the handle for hands-free pouring. Routine care includes wiping the exterior and descaling the interior if mineral deposits form in hard-water locations.
Pros
- Fast to heat and very audible whistle
- Brushed stainless body cleans up easily
- Ergonomic fingertip spout release; BPA-free parts
Cons
- Spout mechanism has failed for some users
- Mineral deposits can build up with hard water
- May splash or dribble if handled roughly when opening
VerdictA good-looking, fast-heating 2-qt teakettle that nails the basics: roomy capacity, brushed stainless construction and an easy finger-release spout that whistles loudly at a boil. Many owners appreciate the light weight and quick boil time, and the kettle wipes clean easily. However, some users report mineral buildup where water is hard, and a minority experienced problems with the spout mechanism

Looks great on the stove
Nice appearance and it works as expected.

You can hear the whistle across the house
This one’s loud — I can hear it from another room. Sturdy and attractive.

Fell apart after four months
We used it daily and took care of it. One day the spout lid came apart into two metal pieces and a spring; it can’t be repaired. Worked fine before that, but I can’t recommend it now.

Discolored after a single use
Used it once and both inside and out discolored immediately. The plastic ring around the spout melted despite low heat. I expected better quality and was very disappointed.

Update: Hard water, not the kettle
I left a bad review at first thinking it was rust. After researching, it was mineral buildup from very hard water. I cleaned it with citric acid, boiled, soaked and it came out like new. Changing my view: the kettle itself performs well.

Spills condensation when opening
When you press the spout button it splashes condensation onto the stove or counter. I wouldn’t have kept it had I known. I miss my old kettle.

Manchas parecidas al óxido tras el primer uso
Al hervir agua y luego vaciarla, aparecieron manchas en el fondo que parecen óxido.

Mostly satisfied after a week
Lighter than older kettles, wide bottom works well on gas and keeps heat away from the handle. If completely full and poured very slowly it can dribble, otherwise I like the brushed finish and performance.

Does the job reliably
Large capacity, heats quickly and hasn’t leaked. Makes some noise on my gas range and the whistle is loud enough to get my attention. Stainless surface is easy to keep clean.
