Tipiace Custom Blackout Honeycomb Skylight Window Shade — Light Grey
Product description
Complete blackout for skylights and roof windows
This shade uses a premium honeycomb fabric backed with a reflective aluminum layer to block direct sunlight, glare and UV — designed for spaces that need total darkness such as bedrooms, lofts and home theaters.
Thermal-insulating cellular construction
The pleated honeycomb creates trapped air pockets that reduce heat transfer through the glazed opening. That insulation helps keep rooms cooler in summer and warmer in winter and can lower HVAC use over time.
Cordless manual operation for safety and simplicity
The shade is operated by a cordless, hand-operated slider. No motor or wiring is required, which eliminates dangling cords and reduces hazards for children and pets while providing reliable, manual control.
Built for skylights and angled installations
Specifically engineered for skylights, sloped and ceiling windows. Shades are made to order so they fit within the window frame for a tidy, built-in appearance; follow the measuring guide when placing a custom order.
What’s included, materials and installation
Each kit ships with a sturdy aluminum headrail, the honeycomb blackout fabric, basic mounting hardware and assembly screws. Frames are prepped for straightforward installation; typical tools and a few minutes per unit are all that’s needed. Multiple color options and custom dimensions are available to match the opening.
Pros
- Complete blackout with reflective aluminum lining
- Honeycomb cells provide measurable thermal insulation
- Cordless, no-electric operation increases safety
Cons
- Requires precise measuring for a correct fit
- No motorized option in the standard kit
- May need additional fasteners or tweaks to hold position
VerdictA high-performing blackout skylight solution that combines a reflective aluminum layer with a cellular honeycomb core to stop light and reduce heat gain or loss. Custom sizing and a durable aluminum headrail make it a practical choice for attic bedrooms, lofts and media spaces, though buyers should measure carefully and expect a basic, manual installation experience.

Blocks all outside light
This truly shuts out daylight. My grandchildren love the darkened room. I couldn't get a standard interior blind to work on this skylight and this saved me from replacing the entire unit.

Great insulation but needs a way to hold position
This blocks the sun and is easy to fit. My only problem is the shade doesn’t lock fully open or closed on its own — it folds like an accordion and needs something to hold it in place. I bought small adhesive magnets to try. The material seems well made and it’s lightweight; I’d buy again for the insulating effect.

True blackout, good customer communication
The company contacted me to confirm my custom size before making the shade, and they corrected a measurement I’d entered incorrectly. The finished blind fits perfectly, keeps heat out and seems built to last. A small block during installation helps keep one end steady while fastening the other.

Very happy — good fit and price
After comparing several options, this was much more affordable and performed well. The seller confirmed my measurements before production, which I appreciated. Installation was straightforward. Make sure your frame is square and follow the measuring instructions closely.

Easy to install, keeps rooms cool
We installed four of these to combat hot summer sun. After measuring and sending sizes, the company slightly reduced dimensions per their guidance and the blinds fit well. The first install took longer because it was mounted upside down, but once oriented correctly the remaining three went in quickly.

Disappointed — fit and function issues
Delivery took a long time and I scheduled a contractor. The width was acceptable but the length didn’t work for our opening. Once installed it would not stay closed or partially open and kept popping back. Instructions were sparse and it seemed components were missing or poorly designed. I wouldn’t recommend this for a critical job without confirming all parts and fit first.

Good value and fit when measured carefully
I rarely post reviews but wanted to share my experience. I measured very precisely and sent the dimensions as requested. The unit arrived sooner than expected, included basic instructions and the frame had pre-drilled holes. I assembled it on the floor and paid attention to which side faces the room — the slider opening indicates the front. The shade fits almost perfectly in the skylight with a tiny gap.

Well made and assembled easily
I chose the light gray model and the unit assembled quickly with the included screws. If you’re unsure about the frame pieces, align the large opening toward the blind to match the screw holes. The gray face should go on the inside to match the reflective white outward side. They ship slightly undersized per their policy, and I used longer mounting screws for my installation.
