RØDE PodMic — Cardioid Dynamic Broadcast Microphone (XLR)
Product description
XLR CONNECTION: This microphone uses an XLR output and must be paired with an audio interface, mixer, or console that accepts XLR inputs — it is not a USB microphone.
VOICE-FOCUSED PERFORMANCE: The PodMic houses a broadcast-style dynamic capsule tuned to favor speech, offering warm, balanced tonal character and improved rejection of ambient room noise compared with typical condenser desktop mics.
INTEGRATED POP AND VIBRATION CONTROL: An internal pop screen helps tame plosives, while built-in shock mounting reduces noise from desk bumps and mic stand movement, so you often don’t need additional pop filters or external shock mounts.
RUGGED METAL CONSTRUCTION: The body and grille are all-metal for long-term durability; the mic has a solid, weighty feel designed for frequent use in recording and broadcast environments.
WHAT'S INCLUDED: The package contains the PodMic with its integrated swivel/swing mount, ready to attach to standard boom arms or stands. It connects to any mixer, interface, or RØDECaster device with an XLR cable (cable and interface sold separately).
Pros
- Warm, broadcast-oriented vocal sound
- Built-in pop filter and shock mount
- Sturdy all-metal construction
Cons

VerdictThe PodMic is a purpose-built dynamic mic for podcasting and voice work. The durable metal chassis and included swing mount make it a dependable studio workhorse that performs especially well with dedicated podcast production gear and any XLR-equipped

Strong sound and solid value
Delivers rich, clear audio with strong off-axis rejection. Feels premium and is straightforward to set up. Great for podcasting, streaming, and voice work — exceeded my expectations.

Unbeatable performance for my setup
After cycling through several USB headsets and cheap plug-in mics that kept failing, this is my first XLR mic and it’s a revelation. Paired with a Maono G1 Neo (a bit underpowered), the PodMic still outperforms everything I owned. It’s solidly built and mounts easily on an arm—do note the weight. Sound is crisp and clear, easily the best mic I’ve used.

Excellent choice for podcasters and streamers
Well-built metal body feels durable. Voice comes through clear and professional, and the dynamic element keeps background noise to a minimum. Remember you’ll need an audio interface or mixer with XLR — otherwise a fantastic cost-effective upgrade to your sound.

Ideal for podcasting and voice-over work
This mic transformed how my voice records—warm, clear and broadcast-like. Heavy, all-metal chassis feels premium. With a proper interface it’s crisp and rejects background noise; internal windscreen does a fine job.

Delivers professional results
Rode’s reputation holds up — setup was plug-and-play and the mic feels solid and durable. Recordings sounded impressively professional to friends and family. It can pick up some room noise depending on placement, so some processing may be needed.

Broadcast sound for podcasters
This mic has raised the production value of my podcast. The internal pop filter and shock mounting work well to reduce plosives and vibrations. It pairs beautifully with the RØDECaster but also sounds excellent on other quality interfaces.

Great tone but needs plenty of gain
Nice warm sound and solid off-axis rejection, but my Behringer UMC202HD couldn’t provide enough clean gain. If your interface has limited preamp gain, look for one with higher headroom to get the best performance.

Reliable build and performance
As expected from RØDE: heavy, well-built, and works as advertised. Remember to get an XLR cable and stand separately.

Tank-like build, voice-friendly sound
Feels very robust with a sleek metal finish and a sturdy grille. The swivel mount is useful and the internal pop screen is handy. Captures voice with clarity and warmth, and the cardioid pattern does a good job of reducing room noise.

High-quality mics for a two-person show
Bought a pair for my co-host and me and they’ve been superb. Very sturdy and heavier than expected. Switching from USB desk mics reduced my editing workload and improved sound quality. Easy to set up with a basic interface and cables.

Well-made, versatile vocal mic
Robust construction and great for voice recordings. Heavy unit that benefits from a sturdy stand; needs an XLR cable and interface to operate.
