Fender Celluloid 346 Guitar Picks — Tortoiseshell Heavy, 12-Pack
Product description
These picks are sold in packs of twelve and come in a tortoiseshell celluloid finish.
Made from classic celluloid, they deliver a smooth contact surface and a warm, rounded tonal character that many players associate with traditional picks. The heavy gauge gives them rigidity and longevity, producing clear attack and dependable response when playing both guitar and bass.
The 346 profile is larger than standard shapes and features three playable corners instead of a single tip. That design provides extra life for each pick: if one point wears the player can rotate to another. The broader body also contributes to a fuller, smoother tone compared with smaller picks.
Fender offers a selection of sizes, shapes and thicknesses across its pick range to match different techniques and hand preferences. These heavy 346 picks are intended for players who want stability for alternate picking, sweep techniques and strong articulation without sacrificing a warm tonal quality.
Pros
- Warm, rounded tone from celluloid
- Sturdy heavy gauge for strong attack
- Three usable edges extend pick life
Cons
- Can be slippery with sweaty hands
- Larger size may not suit very small hands
- Celluloid will eventually wear with heavy use
VerdictThese Fender celluloid 346 picks suit players seeking a firm, traditional-feeling pick with a fuller, rounded sound. The heavy gauge delivers strong attack and durability, while the larger, tri-point body offers extra useful edges and a comfortable grip. Good for a range of styles and particularly handy for players who prefer a substantial pick that stays put under fast techniques.

Good Bulk Buy
Picks wear out, so having a large pack is handy.

Add Cork for No-Slip Grip
Stick a cork circle on one side and you won’t drop the pick. The extra points prevent rotation and the flat edge works well for soft strumming. With cork they’re easy to grip even when hands get sweaty; I prefer the white ones for visibility.

Reliable Build and Tunable Edge
I like Fender picks, especially on acoustics. Mediums sit around .73–.88 mm and heavies near 1.14 mm. The heavy ones can be reshaped with 400/800 grit to get the edge you prefer. They sound great and last.

Serviceable Product
Trusted design for the average user. Hold them between thumb and index or middle finger and you’ll quickly know if the shape and thickness suit your playing.

Better Grip Than Thin Picks
I usually make DIY picks from old cards but tried these. Comfortable size and sturdier than thin picks. Slightly larger for a better hold without feeling bulky. Heavy ones are my new go-to.

Ideal for a Soloist with Big Hands
Bought as a gift for an electric soloist who likes large, heavy picks. He has long fingers and says the larger size helps with alternate picking and they don’t slip. Feels solid for sweep and fast techniques. He gave them five stars and would buy more styles.

Tri-Corner Design Works Great
Good substitute for my tri-corner abalone pick. The heavy gauge lets you change tone by attack and the three points give secure purchase, plus options if it rotates.
