A new partnership between global payroll and HR company Deel and equity platform Carta makes it easier for Swedish companies to enable employees around the world to exercise their stock options.
“This makes global ownership accessible to everyone,” says Daniel Eisenberg, Sweden Country Manager for Deel.
As more companies hire internationally, managing equity for employees in different countries has become more complex. The collaboration combines Deel’s global payroll capabilities with Carta’s equity management tools to deliver a solution that streamlines tax calculations, payments and compliance with local tax regulations. The integration saves time and reduces administrative burden for both employees and employers.
By connecting the two platforms, companies can automate the flow of equity events: when employees exercise options, Deel logs the transactions, calculates local taxes and handles payments to local authorities.

Employees can now pay for option exercises in their home currencies, addressing a common issue with delays and currency conversion when different currencies are involved.
“Our partnership gives companies the confidence to offer global equity to international team members,” Eisenberg adds. “This is especially valuable for companies that are scaling or expanding internationally and want to build more engaged, incentivized teams.”
The integration is part of Deel’s broader effort to equip companies with effective tools for managing a global workforce, simplify equity administration and make it easier for international teams to manage total compensation.
Organizations that use both Carta and Deel can enable the Carta integration in their Deel accounts to automate global equity tax withholding and related processes.
