Crankbrothers M20 Gold Bike Multi-Tool — 20-Function Trail Kit
Product description
This compact multi-tool groups 20 high-strength steel implements into a slim, portable unit designed for trail maintenance and emergency fixes. The toolkit includes hex keys in sizes 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8; an 8mm open wrench; spoke wrenches numbered 0, 1 and 2; Phillips screwdrivers #1 and #2; a flat screwdriver #1; and Torx bits T10 and T25.
A dedicated chain tool is built into the unit and is compatible with 8-, 9-, 10-, 11- and 12-speed chains, enabling roadside chain repairs and link replacement. There is also an integrated tire plug tool supplied with plugs, plus a small storage carrier that clips onto the tool so you can keep the plugs and spare chain links securely stowed.
Additional specialty items include a valve-core remover and a rotor straightening tool to address common bike-specific issues without extra kit. The side rails and pivoting arms are made from high-tensile steel to balance durability with compactness.
Finished with a lifetime warranty, the tool measures 89mm long and weighs 203g, making it small enough for a jersey pocket, saddle bag or compact pack while offering a wide range of repair options for the road or trail.
Pros
- Comprehensive 20-function toolset
- Chain tool fits 8–12 speed chains
- Integrated storage for plugs and links
Cons
- Heavier than minimalist multi-tools
- Compact shape can reduce leverage
- Chain tool may be tight for some pins
VerdictA robust, all-in-one solution for riders who want a capable tool that won’t take up much space. The M20 covers most on-the-road and on-the-trail needs with a strong steel construction and a dedicated chain tool and puncture kit. It’s slightly heavier than minimalist options, but the extra functions and built-in storage for plugs and chain links make it a practical pick for regular cyclists.

Sturdy, premium feel
Feels more durable than cheaper alternatives and the hex keys seem resistant to rounding. The attachable case is ideal for spare links. Fits easily in a medium saddle bag with a tube and a couple of levers.

Well-made and handy
Solidly constructed and contains every bit I’ve needed so far. My only issue was the chain breaker didn’t quite reset my Shimano chain pin back in place.

Functional and lightweight
Contains the basic wrenches and screwdrivers for rides away from home, plus the chain tool and tubeless plugs for users who run tubeless setups.

Outstanding little toolkit
One of the best compact bike multi-tools I’ve used. It includes most of the pieces you’ll need for quick adjustments and is solidly built. The tire plug kit is a handy extra for emergency punctures. It’s not featherlight, but the quality steel and range of tools justify the weight.

Compact and practical
A very neat, space-saving kit that carries everything for on-ride fixes. It’s perfect for tweaking pedals, saddles and bars when testing gear. Size and weight are sensible for what you get — would be a great present for a frequent rider.

Complete and durable
This tool really does cover everything, even a compartment for spare chain links. It’s robust, though slightly on the heavy side. Aside from that, it’s hard to beat for trail repairs.

Highly versatile
Very capable tool with many functions; that breadth adds some weight. Not an issue for me, but those trimming grams might notice it.

Reliable and portable
Owned this for over a year and it’s been useful at trailheads and on rides. Plenty of handy tools and a slim profile that fits jersey pockets or small bags. The yellow side rails help it stand out when rummaging in gear.

Top quality, very useful
Solid construction and easy to open and use. The layout is compact and includes the chain tool and puncture kit with storage. Grip can be tricky due to size, and it’s a bit heavier than ultra-light options, but acceptable for the functions included.
