6.25-Gallon Top-Fill Poultry Waterer (BPA-Free Plastic)
Product description
What’s included: one 6.25-gallon poultry waterer with top-fill lid, twist-lock base, integrated float valve and molded carry handle.
Materials & construction: The reservoir is molded from heavy-duty, BPA-free plastic that resists weathering and is safe for poultry. The translucent tank lets you check water levels at a glance. The base and lid are durable plastic and the unit uses a simple gravity-fed float valve to regulate flow into the drinking well.
Capacity & compatibility: Holds 6.25 gallons—suitable for small to medium-sized flocks and marketed to serve large backyard groups. The design works for chickens, ducks, turkeys and other game birds, and is compatible with most poultry waterer heating plates or bases to help prevent freezing in cold climates.
How it works: Fill through the wide, top-fill opening; the internal float valve maintains a constant water level in the tray, reducing spills and waste without needing power. The twist-lock base secures the reservoir to the drinking tray to reduce leaks, while the raised drinking area helps keep debris out. Molded handles make it easier to carry and to hang or set in place.
Care & use notes: The top-fill lid eliminates the need to invert heavy buckets for refilling and makes routine cleaning simpler. Periodic inspection of the bottom O-ring and proper tightening of the base screw will help prevent leaks. Because the unit is large when full, lift carefully or use a stable stand to avoid lid distortion when moving.
Pros
- Large 6.25-gallon capacity reduces refill frequency
- Top-fill wide mouth and internal float for easy refills and steady flow
- Durable, BPA-free plastic and translucent tank for quick checks
Cons
- Quite heavy when fully loaded
- A minority report intermittent failures or leaks
- Leaves a couple inches of water inaccessible in the base
VerdictA high-capacity, low-maintenance solution for backyard and small-farm poultry watering. The 6.25-gallon reservoir and built-in float deliver a steady water level without electricity, while the top-fill opening and twist-lock base simplify refilling and cleaning. Constructed from weather-resistant, BPA-free plastic with a translucent tank and molded handles, it’s sturdy enough for year-round outdoo

Works as advertised with an O-ring tip
Does what it should. If you see leaks check the O-ring where the reservoir screws into the base—tighten properly but don’t overdo it. A light coat of silicone grease monthly fixed my leaks.

Very convenient but heavy when full
Holds the advertised 6 gallons and is easy to clean; the dome keeps water cleaner. When full it’s heavy, and lifting by the handle can distort the opening so the lid pops off temporarily, but once set down it reseats fine.

Bought a second one after a year
First one impressed me so I got another. Used a heating plate with burlap underneath all winter and no issues. Keep it elevated to avoid dirt; note a few inches of water at the bottom won’t dispense, so keep it topped up.

Would give more than five stars
I tried several dispensers before this and finally found one worth keeping. Simple to fill, no fragile parts, holds plenty. We don’t hang ours—just sit it on a block of wood and it works perfectly.

Bought five, three failed—left birds thirsty
The size and refill ease are ideal, but durability disappointed me. Out of five units only two still work. One stopped dispensing despite being full and another leaked out. For the price I expected better reliability.

Reliable and easy to use
So far the best drinker I’ve bought—simple to fill and clean. I’ll buy another in spring.

Follow the instructions—it's great
Read the reviews and try this one. It solved the problems I had with other feeders—keeps water cleaner and works exactly as described if you follow the setup steps.

Experienced keeper: avoids vacuum systems
I've kept birds for decades and tested many founts. Metal rusts and vacuum-only buckets suck contaminated water back into the reservoir. Anything relying purely on vacuum attracts dirt and needs constant dumping—this float-style concept avoids that problem.

Best year-round waterer I've found
Keeps the inside clean—huge improvement over bottom-fill and hose setups that get nasty. With a hose it lasts several days for ten birds even in very hot weather. Top-fill and easy bottom rinse make maintenance simple.

Prefer this to the larger red-base model
Initial overflow happened until I adjusted the screw, then it worked fine. Easier to fill and stays cleaner than my 7-gallon red-base unit. I refill with gallon jugs and bought a second one after seeing how well it performs.
