TRINFREE 3-Pack Wooden Nesting Boxes for Chickens — Farmhouse Coop Nests
Product description
Designed to provide a true hen-sized retreat, each compartment measures approximately 12 x 12 x an adjustable 11–15 inches, offering a cozy, private spot that encourages natural laying behavior. The trio of boxes covers the egg needs of a small flock and helps keep nests organized and eggs clean.
Constructed from natural solid wood, the panels receive a carbonized surface treatment to improve resistance to rain, humidity, and insect damage. The finish and materials are intended to withstand typical coop conditions and extend usable life when kept under cover.
The set arrives as pre-cut, pre-drilled panels that assemble with a construction-grade mortise-and-tenon approach for strong interlocking joints. Pieces are designed to fit tightly together; a bit of time and standard tools are required to complete the build. Once put together, the solid interlocking design promotes stability for regular coop use.
Each compartment is sized to support daily laying needs (each nest can accommodate several hens in rotation), and the three-compartment configuration handles the needs of most small backyard flocks. A decorative farmhouse-style eave trim provides a rustic aesthetic that suits garden coops, small farms, or backyard setups.
Pros
- Hen-sized compartments with private nesting space
- Solid wood with carbonized finish for better durability
- Interlocking mortise-and-tenon panels for stable assembly
Cons
- Assembly takes time and basic tools
- Wood should be sheltered from prolonged weather exposure
- May feel unfinished and need sealing for easier cleaning
VerdictA practical, attractive set of three wooden nest boxes that provides hen-sized nesting space, reasonable weather resistance from a carbonized finish, and a stable mortise-and-tenon build once assembled. Best for sheltered backyard coops where DIY assembly is acceptable.

Acceptably Functional
You’ll want a power drill—there are no pilot holes. Some roof pieces didn’t line up and needed trimming, and there were a few wood flakes. Instructions are clear though. Not perfect, but not a bad buy so far.

Charming and Roomy
Simple to assemble and very attractive. The boxes are roomy and not overly heavy yet feel sturdy. (Photos taken before hanging.)

Solid Product Despite Bad Directions
Product seems well made, but the assembly guide was incorrect. I used the product photo to figure it out and ended up with sturdy nest boxes.

Good Value, Keep It Dry
Easy to assemble and a nice product for the money. I wouldn’t leave these exposed to the elements.

Hens Adopted Them Immediately
My hens started using these boxes right away, which was exactly what I wanted. Putting them together took some time but wasn’t difficult—the instructions were clear and parts fit well. Once assembled they felt solid and looked nice. Size is comfortable for my birds; I’d recommend them.

Adorable and Simple to Build
Very cute and easy to assemble. They look large enough that my hens should like them. My only concern is how easy they will be to clean since the wood feels a bit unfinished.
