Electric Fence Energizer (0.3 J AC) — 5100V, 10-Mile / 40-Acre Range
Product description
Protects livestock and plants: This pulse energizer is intended to help control small animals and discourage wildlife from entering fenced areas. The shock is nonlethal but unpleasant enough to teach animals to avoid the perimeter, helping keep poultry, pets and crops safe from foxes, raccoons, skunks and similar intruders.
Power and coverage: The unit produces an output of 5100 volts with an energy output of 0.3 joule. It is rated to energize up to approximately 10 miles of fence line, which translates to about 40 acres of typical fencing—suitable for small farms, paddocks and garden perimeters.
What’s included and construction: The package contains the AC-powered energizer unit housed in a durable polymer case with built-in surge protection. LED feedback shows operational status. Note: alligator clips, ground rods and fencing material are not included and must be provided separately.
Installation and connections: Mount on a T-post or secure to a stake using the rear slot or a spacer. The unit has two clearly marked terminals: the red terminal for the live fence conductor and the green terminal for a separate earth/ground rod. It’s compatible with conductive wires, braid, tape or rope when used as part of an electric fence system.
Safety and usage notes: A built-in lightning arrester and rugged housing provide added protection against surges and weather. For reliable performance, use a proper earth connection and keep vegetation from shorting the line. Intended for containment and deterrence of small to medium animals rather than large wildlife containment.
Pros
- Covers up to 10 miles / 40 acres
- Visible LED for quick status check
- Durable housing with surge protection
Cons
- Requires external alligator clips and ground rod
- Low energy (0.3J) not for very large animals
- AC-powered only — needs mains socket
VerdictA compact, AC-powered pulse energizer built for farm and garden perimeter use. It delivers 5100V and 0.3J to cover about 10 miles of fencing (≈40 acres). Installation is straightforward on T-posts, with a visible LED indicator and separate fence/ground terminals. The polymer housing and built-in lightning arrestor add durability, but you must supply your own alligator clips and proper grounding fo

Stops fence climbing fast
My German shepherd kept scaling the chain link until I added this wire. One shock was enough — no more climbing. It also stays live when leaves or vines touch it.

Works to keep deer out
Not a heavy jolt, but sufficient to deter deer from stepping into my vegetable beds.

Fine for very small areas
Barely adequate — OK for tiny runs. With under 50 feet of wire I get a weak spark at the far end. Not as powerful as the old heavy-duty unit I once owned.
