192 kHz Optical-to-RCA DAC Converter with Toslink Cable
Product description
192 kHz DAC converter: This compact converter accepts optical (Toslink/SPDIF) digital audio and converts it to two-channel analog RCA outputs. The unit is intended to connect digital sources — such as HDTVs, set-top boxes, Blu‑ray/DVD players and gaming consoles — to analog stereo amplifiers or powered speakers. The package includes a Toslink optical cable and a power cord that must be connected to a wall outlet for operation.
Built-in amplification and audio handling: Inside the housing is an audio amp chipset that raises the RCA-level output so the signal is usable with typical audio equipment. For volume control and finer adjustments, use the connected amplifier or speaker system, as the device itself does not provide a front-panel volume control.
Compact, lightweight design: The converter is housed in a small plastic enclosure with a minimal footprint, designed to sit beside AV gear without taking up much space. Its lightweight build and simple connections make it easy to position and hide in most entertainment setups.
Professional sampling and bit-depth support: The converter supports professional-grade 24-bit/192 kHz processing and will accept optical inputs at common sample rates including 32, 44.1, 48, 96 and 192 kHz, handling 24-bit streams to preserve detail from the source.
Straightforward compatibility and limitations: It is plug-and-play for many digital sources — HDTVs, cable/satellite boxes, Blu‑ray/DVD players and game systems. Note the device does not decode Dolby AC3 or multi-channel 5.1 bitstreams; your source must output two-channel PCM for the converter to produce stereo RCA output.
TV setup reminder: To ensure proper operation, set your TV or source device to use optical audio output and select PCM (two-channel) audio mode. Once configured, connect the optical cable to the source, RCA outputs to your amp or speakers, and power the unit using the included power cord.
Pros
- Supports up to 24-bit/192 kHz sampling
- Includes Toslink cable and power cord for immediate setup
- Small, easy-to-install form factor
Cons
- Does not decode Dolby Digital/5.1 AC3 streams
- No onboard volume control
- Requires source set to PCM for proper output
VerdictA small, straightforward digital-to-analog converter that reliably transforms Toslink optical signals into amplified RCA stereo output. It supports high sample rates up to 24-bit/192 kHz and comes with the necessary cables for immediate setup. It won’t decode Dolby Digital 5.1 or AC3, so ensure your source is set to PCM. Ideal when you need a simple, inexpensive bridge from modern digital sources

Good value, includes power cable
If you want TV sound to feed headphones or external speakers while still using the TV, this does the job. The box contains two leads and one must be plugged into mains power.

Check for PCM support on your TV
I hoped to use this with my gifted LG TV but its firmware lacks a PCM output option, so the converter couldn’t receive stereo audio. It did work when attached to a DVD player instead. Small expense but disappointing if your TV lacks PCM mode.
