Turkcell Commits to Ethical, Responsible AI Use and Governance

Turkcell has recently reinforced its dedication to the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) by integrating clear AI principles into its core business processes and technologies.

The company’s initiative seeks to position Turkcell as a leading global contributor to AI ethics and to become the first organization in Turkey to publish concrete principles governing AI use.

Turkcell CMO Omer Barbaros Yis commented: “AI must be nurtured responsibly, much like raising children, and we are committed to teaching it thoughtfully. Today we publish our principles and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring AI delivers socially beneficial outcomes for our customers and for society as a whole.”

“We are proud to be the first company in Turkey to take this step toward formalizing AI ethics. The field will keep expanding, and we will see its transformative effects in everyday life. Drawing on our experience in digital transformation and the development of next-generation technologies, we will continue to guide AI development in a positive direction and help address public concerns about its applications.”

Last November, Zhao Dachun, vice general manager of China Mobile, spoke about the global rollout of 5G at the third China Enterprise Reform and Development Forum. Citing research from IHS Markit, which forecasts that 5G could contribute $12.3 trillion to the global economy across sectors by 2035, Zhao described 5G as “the aorta of the information society, the accelerator of industrial transformation, and the foundation of the digital society.”

Xiaomi also announced plans to invest more than 50 billion yuan in 5G and AI over the next five years. The company has long promoted a strategy that combines 5G, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things, advocating an “AIoT” (AI + IoT) approach to drive integrated innovation.
