Since Samsung launched its first foldable smartphone in 2019, creating an entirely new product category, its goal has been clear: to give users large screens in a pocketable device. After years of development and thousands of technical improvements, the Galaxy series of foldable phones has not only achieved that goal but also helped set a new standard for innovation in foldable mobile technology.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 are Samsung’s thinnest, lightest and most advanced foldable phones to date.
Pocket-friendly dimensions
The Galaxy Z Flip7 measures just 6.5 millimeters when open and 13.7 millimeters when closed. Thanks to an ultracompact circuit board that maximizes internal space and improved battery energy density, Samsung increased battery capacity by 300 mAh while making the battery thinner.

The Galaxy Z Fold7 is nearly half the thickness of the first Fold model, with a closed thickness of just 8.9 millimeters and 4.2 millimeters when open. This 48 percent reduction, combined with a wider and brighter display and a new 21:9 aspect ratio when closed, makes the phone easier to carry and more comfortable to use.
Stronger, smoother hinge

The Galaxy Z Fold7 features the third-generation Armor FlexHinge, which is 27 percent thinner and 43 percent lighter than its predecessor. Key improvements include:
- Thinner rotating and load-bearing components, enabling a smaller hinge without sacrificing strength.
- New alloy components that improve material durability by more than 14 percent, increasing the hinge’s resistance to repeated use.
- Separate support and rotation functions, which enhance stability and design flexibility.
- A wider opening in the hinge wing, resulting in a flatter, cleaner display.

The Galaxy Z Flip7 uses Samsung’s thinnest FlexHinge to date. It is 29 percent narrower than the one on the Galaxy Z Flip6 while remaining fully compatible with FlexMode.
Thinner, tougher displays

The display is central to the hardware improvements in the Galaxy Z Fold7. Development focused on increasing durability while making the device lighter and thinner:
- Display thickness has been reduced by over 39 percent through a completely new panel structure and advanced material choices.
- A titanium mesh replaces carbon fiber, offering 64 percent better wear resistance and toughness.
- A thinner profile achieved by redesigning the panel’s layered structure to better withstand external stresses while maintaining stiffness.
- Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) is now 50 percent thicker than on the Galaxy Z Fold6, producing a smoother screen surface with less visible crease and improved performance.

Samsung preserves the iconic Z Flip design while packing more power into a smaller package:
- The new Infinity Cover Display stretches edge to edge with no black strip at the top, giving more room for content and a cleaner visual experience.
- The camera is discreetly positioned in the corner, producing a balanced, refined look.
- The screen bezel has shrunk from 3.94 to 1.25 millimeters, a 68 percent reduction that makes this Samsung’s thinnest display bezel ever on a foldable phone.
Pro-level cameras in pocket size
The Galaxy Z Fold7 delivers a premium camera experience, bringing flagship imaging technology into a thin, lightweight form factor.
- It is the first foldable phone with a 200 MP wide-angle camera, made possible by a new, thinner motor and a redesigned internal structure.
- The camera module has been reduced in size by 18 percent, and nearly 30,000 simulations were performed to create the thinnest 200 MP camera ever in a foldable device without compromising image quality.

The Galaxy Z Flip7’s camera has also been rebuilt from the ground up to deliver top-tier image quality in an even slimmer package. Samsung simplified the internal structure of the camera module and used a smaller motor to enable fast autofocus in a smaller form factor.
Stronger materials, lighter feel
The Galaxy Z Fold7 is reinforced with tougher, more advanced materials. The cover display now uses Corning® Gorilla® Glass Ceramic 2, which is 30 percent stronger than the previous generation. The frame and hinge protection have been upgraded to Advanced Armor Aluminum, a material that is 10 percent more durable than what was used in the Galaxy Z Fold6.
Summary
Every hinge, screen layer and camera component in the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 has been redesigned with a clear purpose: to deliver a refined foldable phone that feels as smooth and familiar as a premium conventional smartphone.
