Sensoneo Launches on America’s First NB‑IoT Network for Smart Waste Management

Sensoneo, a provider of smart waste management solutions, has confirmed it is prepared to be among the first companies to use the United States’ first nationwide NB-IoT network.

In recent weeks, Sensoneo has been testing its fill-level sensors across multiple sites in the USA to ensure the devices are fully compatible and ready for the imminent launch of T-Mobile’s nationwide NB-IoT service.

Lubas Tuma, CEO of Sensoneo, said:

“We welcome T-Mobile’s launch of the narrowband IoT network. This is a significant milestone and a major opportunity to drive smart solutions that enable tracking and optimisation of assets across industries—delivering improved health and safety, lower costs, and greater operational efficiency.

We are proud to be one of the first vendors to test our devices on T-Mobile’s NB-IoT network.”

T-Mobile’s plan to deploy the first nationwide NB-IoT network in the United States was widely reported earlier in the year, positioning the carrier to support large-scale IoT deployments with broad geographic coverage.

Mike Sievert, Chief Operating Officer at T-Mobile, commented:

“The number of connected devices already exceeds the world’s population, and it keeps growing. T-Mobile is adopting the latest IoT technologies to make connectivity simpler and far more affordable for businesses and cities.”

NB-IoT (Narrowband Internet of Things) is a low-power, wide-area radio technology built on LTE-Advanced. It is designed to deliver benefits such as minimal power consumption, extended battery life, and reduced device cost—features that make it well suited for mass IoT deployments like smart waste management.

Headquartered in Slovakia, Sensoneo designs and manufactures its own fill-level sensors capable of monitoring any kind of waste in virtually any container type. These sensors measure bin fill levels and transmit data to Sensoneo’s cloud software.

Once collected, the fill-level data is analysed in Sensoneo’s platform to enable data-driven decisions: optimising collection routes, adjusting pick-up frequency, and improving vehicle load planning. The end result is fewer unnecessary collections, lower operational costs, and a smaller environmental footprint.

Sensoneo’s solution is already deployed in 53 locations across four continents, demonstrating practical benefits for municipalities and waste management companies.
