Numerex, an on-demand machine-to-machine (M2M) service provider, has partnered with T-Mobile US to help customers migrate from legacy 2G networks to LTE through a targeted upgrade program called “LTE for the IoT.” The initiative pairs T-Mobile’s nationwide 4G LTE coverage with Numerex’s expertise in modules, devices, and platform services to offer a cost-effective path for organizations that need to modernize their IoT deployments ahead of 2G shutdowns.
Built on the Numerex nxFAST IoT platform, the upgrade program delivers an end-to-end migration solution that guides customers through every stage of the transition. The bundled package includes a customized migration plan, the Numerex iNSITE device management platform, and T-Mobile 4G LTE network access with 3G fallback. To reduce upfront barriers, the offering can be combined with an optional financing program and includes wireless communication modules optimized for IoT use cases.
Beyond connectivity and hardware, Numerex provides integration with its CloudConnect services, long-term device lifecycle support, and a volume incentive plan to help organizations scale affordably. These combined services are intended to minimize disruption and ensure continuity for deployments that historically relied on older network technologies.
Numerex CEO Marc Zionts highlighted the urgency behind the program, noting that thousands of IoT implementations nationwide still depend on 2G service. Although the impending 2G sunset is widely known, many customers have yet to implement a migration strategy. Zionts said the Numerex and T-Mobile collaboration aims to make upgrading straightforward, efficient, and low-friction for those customers.
By combining carrier-grade LTE coverage with device management, cloud integration, financing options, and lifecycle support, the “LTE for the IoT” program offers a comprehensive migration pathway for enterprises, utilities, and other organizations that must transition their IoT networks to modern cellular standards.
