Gomero Wins First Order to Use SIPP for Data Center Deployment

Australian electricity network operator Essential Energy has selected Gomero’s connected monitoring equipment, SIPP, for a major data center project north of Canberra. This project, Essential Energy’s first of its kind, includes a large zone transformer station that uses environmentally friendly ester-based insulating oil for transformer cooling. In the event of a leak, Gomero’s SIPP Node effectively detects both ester and mineral oils. Today, SIPP is the only certified technology capable of detecting ester and mineral oils down to 1 ppm. Essential Energy signed the new agreement with Gomero’s local partner KingHill.

Automated environmental protection for the transformer oil catch basin is an important part of digitizing maintenance and meeting rising environmental requirements for critical infrastructure. Essential Energy already uses SIPP at several of its transformer stations.

A demanding, advanced market

Essential Energy’s renewed choice of SIPP for a project aligned with their long-term strategy for digitization and the green transition is an important endorsement. Australia is a highly advanced market with strict environmental and safety requirements for participating companies. The deal also confirms that our focus on data centers as a key growth segment is starting to pay off. We see potential across all our markets, says Gomero CEO Jan-Eric Nilsson.

— Gomero is the only provider on the market with a certified solution that can detect environmentally friendly ester oil down to 1 ppm. That SIPP, after a thorough cybersecurity evaluation, has been approved by another local network operator in Australia gives us a very strong position going forward, comments Jonas Lindholm, CEO of KingHill.
