AT&T has activated low-band 5G service in 28 additional regions, including several areas that are introducing Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) technology.
With these additions, AT&T’s low-band 5G coverage now spans 355 regions and is estimated to reach approximately 179 million people.

Notably, several of these markets include areas that are the first in their regions to deploy DSS. Dynamic Spectrum Sharing allows carriers to allocate the same spectrum dynamically between 4G and 5G users according to real-time demand, which helps improve network flexibility and reliability.
“DSS is an important stepping-stone on our path to nationwide 5G,” said Igal Elbaz, senior vice president of wireless and access technology at AT&T. He noted that AT&T was the first U.S. carrier to introduce DSS on its network and that the technology is helping the company move toward a nationwide 5G footprint this summer.
