Accenture Expands Nordic Telecom Presence with Northstream Deal

Accenture has acquired Swedish strategic consultancy Northstream to strengthen its capabilities across the Nordic region.

Northstream provides advisory services to mobile operators, network and handset manufacturers, and the broader telecommunications industry. The firm helps communications service providers (CSPs) anticipate market shifts, adapt to evolving conditions, and capitalise on new business and technology opportunities.

Through this acquisition, Accenture intends to meet growing CSP demand for network consulting related to 5G rollouts and IoT connectivity, as well as large-scale transformation programmes such as telecom network cloud deployments and operating model redesigns. Nearly 30 Northstream professionals will join Accenture’s Communications, Media & Technology operating group, enhancing its industry consulting capabilities and local presence.

Mattias Lewrén, Nordic CMT lead and Sweden country managing director at Accenture, commented: “With Northstream now part of Accenture, we’re in an even stronger position to provide our communications clients with the innovation-led services they need to address today’s challenges — including digital disruption, shifting customer expectations, and competition from new digital-native entrants.”

Accenture’s leadership position in enterprise platform IT services has also been recognised by industry research. An Everest Group assessment of enterprise platform IT services in banking and financial services identified Accenture as a leader based on two core dimensions: Market Impact — encompassing market adoption, portfolio mix and value delivered to clients — and Vision & Capability, which covers strategy, service scope, investment and innovation, and delivery footprint.
