T.Loop Acquires Stockholm Data Center to Strengthen Market Presence

T.Loop has recently acquired a high-security data center spanning 800 square meters in central Stockholm. This strategic purchase is a cornerstone of T.Loop’s broader expansion plan and marks a significant milestone for the company. The goal is to convert the existing facility into a state-of-the-art Data Energy Center during 2024.

Mathias Lindqvist, Chief Engineer and one of T.Loop’s founders, emphasizes the strategic value of acquiring existing data centers and sees great potential in this facility. Lindqvist explains that the company will leverage the current infrastructure to rapidly provide colocation services to customers. At the same time, T.Loop intends to capture and reuse the heat produced by the data center, turning what would normally be waste into a resource. This approach underscores the company’s focus not only on advanced technology services but also on sustainability and environmentally responsible operations.

With this acquisition T.Loop significantly expands its data capacity, fully aligned with the company’s ambitious growth plans. Earlier in December, the company opened its first Data Energy Center® in northern Stockholm. The distinctive concept behind T.Loop’s Data Energy Center® relies on innovative liquid-based cooling for servers. The waste heat produced is used to heat the building that houses the data hall, and there is also potential to feed excess heat directly into the district heating network.

T.Loop is explicitly working to make its Data Energy Center® facilities climate-positive as quickly as possible. By locating centers in existing buildings and replacing traditional heating systems with server-generated waste heat, the company reduces its carbon footprint. When acquiring older data centers, T.Loop prioritizes reusing existing infrastructure to further lower environmental impact while maintaining high service quality.

Cecilia Hjertzell, Head of Sustainability at T.Loop, outlines the company’s overall sustainability strategy. She highlights the importance of a circular business model that maximizes resource use at every level. By situating Data Energy Centers® in existing structures and efficiently recovering waste heat, T.Loop takes meaningful steps to shrink its climate impact. The company’s ambitions extend beyond current projects, with ongoing refinement of the concept to minimize emissions across scope 1–3. As more customers become aware of IT’s climate footprint, T.Loop aims to support organizations in advancing their digital transformation while actively reducing their total CO2 emissions.
