At the end of January, Sigma Technology Group, together with Appbites and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Pristina in Kosovo, signed a five-year cooperation agreement. This partnership marks a significant step toward strengthening cross-border collaboration in knowledge exchange, industrial development and research.
University of Pristina and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
The University of Pristina, the largest university in Kosovo and a member of the European University Association, is one of the country’s leading higher education institutions. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering offers programs in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, transportation and related disciplines. The faculty’s strategic development plan highlights involvement with national and international capabilities in scientific research and development activities and calls for identifying strategic partners within the private sector.
Sigma Technology Group’s plans
Sigma Technology Group intends to launch internship programs and laboratory collaborations in mechatronics, electronics, embedded systems and hardware development, as well as in emerging technologies. These initiatives aim to provide students with hands-on experience and to accelerate applied research that addresses real industry challenges.
Synergies with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
“We see many synergies with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Pristina. With their dedicated laboratories for vehicle technology, robotics and electronics, we can collaborate on embedded hardware and software development projects, enable cross-border cooperation and contribute industry insights and practical examples. We also aim to explore opportunities for student exchanges, thesis projects and internships,” says Mattias Gudasic, CTO of Sigma Technology Embedded Solutions.
Sigma Technology and Appbites’ vision for Kosovo
This partnership aligns with the ambition of Sigma Technology and Appbites to become among the top three employers in Kosovo in the coming years. As a knowledge-driven company, Sigma Technology believes a better tomorrow is built through education and innovation. The company has a history of successful collaboration with technical universities in Sweden, Ukraine and Hungary.
“Through our partnership with the University of Pristina, we aim to support faculty and students in translating academic research into practical applications, improve the quality of education through hands-on exposure and ensure graduates are well prepared to meet the demands of Kosovo’s evolving job market,” says Niklas Malmros, CEO of Sigma Technology Solutions Group.
Expanded collaboration with Appbites and the University of Pristina
“We have already collaborated with the University of Pristina primarily in software development profiles, and now we look forward to expanding our focus to embedded services, particularly PCB design. Through this partnership, students will undertake internships at Sigma and Appbites and work on real-world use cases from Sigma in Sweden directly in the university’s laboratories. At the same time, teaching assistants and professors will actively contribute their expertise, creating a dynamic environment that fosters innovation, practical learning and professional growth for both academia and industry. I believe this is an excellent opportunity for the university and for the industry,” says Arianit Pajaziti, CEO of Appbites.
