One of Tietoevry’s data centers in Sweden was the target of a ransomware attack during the night of January 19–20. Although full recovery efforts are underway, services for some affected customers remain impacted.
The attack was confined to a portion of the affected data center and has impacted Tietoevry’s services for several of its Swedish customers. Tietoevry immediately isolated the compromised platform; the ransomware incident has not affected other parts of the company’s infrastructure. Tietoevry has taken highest-priority measures to investigate, mitigate and resolve the situation. A team of specialists is working around the clock on multiple tracks. We have informed customers who are directly affected and continue to communicate with them to provide updates on progress.
“We regret the disruption this malicious attack has caused our customers and everyone affected. We have allocated all necessary resources to manage the situation as effectively as possible. We are in active dialogue with customers who are directly impacted,” says Venke Bordal, Head of Market Sweden, Tietoevry Tech Services.
“At this time we cannot specify exactly how long system restoration will take, but we are fully focused on resolving the issue as soon as it is technically possible. Security and service continuity are our highest priorities, and we are treating this incident with the utmost seriousness. Internal and external specialists are investigating the attack, and because ransomware is a serious criminal act we have reported the incident to the police. Tietoevry remains on high alert and is continuously monitoring the situation,” Venke Bordal added.
Tietoevry is following a proven methodology to restore infrastructure and services. Recovery work proceeds in a planned sequence to ensure proper handling of customer data. Timelines may vary depending on the customer, the specific solutions involved and any data recovery requirements. This work is carried out in close cooperation with the affected customers.
