100ml Air-Dry Clay Gloss Varnish — Waterproof High-Gloss Clay Glaze
Product description
Product contents and size: a single 100ml bottle of clear gloss varnish specifically formulated for air-dry clay projects.
Material and finish: the varnish dries to a transparent, high-gloss surface that forms a protective film. It is designed to be watertight, resistant to dust and abrasion, and to leave a hard, non-tacky sheen on cured clay. The formula is suitable for producing a bright, glaze-like effect on air-drying pottery-style pieces.
How to use: for best results, start with a fully dry clay piece. Apply a thick coat of white acrylic primer and allow it to dry completely. Paint your chosen color over the primer and let that layer dry. Then brush on the gloss varnish; allow approximately 24 hours for the glaze to cure fully. The varnish is intended to seal and protect decorative work rather than serve as a food-safe coating.
Compatibility and applications: this glaze works on air-dry clay, polymer clay, plaster, colored porcelain, pre-painted metal, wood, jewelry, and artificial flowers, among other decorative materials. It provides a hard protective layer that keeps finishes looking bright and reduces surface wear.
Safety note: not suitable for coatings that will come into direct contact with food or drink.
Pros
- Hard, high-gloss protective finish
- Quick-drying and easy to brush on
- Adheres to many decorative surfaces
Cons
- 100ml can be small for large projects
- Not safe for food-contact items
- Best results require primer and paint layers
VerdictThis 100ml gloss varnish gives air-dry clay pieces a tough, ceramic-like shine and reliable surface protection. It builds a clear, waterproof film that resists scratches, scuffs and dust while remaining hard and non-sticky. Best used over a white acrylic primer and paint, it dries in roughly 24 hours and is suitable for a range of decorative materials. Ideal for hobbyists and makers who want a lon

Small Jar, Big Results
The jar is small, but you don’t need much to glaze a project. It applies thin and evens out beautifully, leaving a smooth, shiny surface without tackiness.

Perfect for Mixed-Media Work
As a mixed-media artist I use it on air-dry clay and paper-covered objects. It seals gilding wax nicely, gives a brilliant shine, dries fast, and a little covers a lot. Cleanup is simple and it makes pieces look finished.

Brush-On, Fast-Dry, Glossy Finish
Applied easily with a brush and dries quickly to a shiny finish. Leaves no stickiness or cloudiness. A bit pricey but a small amount goes far so it’s worth it.

Great — Initial Over-Gloss Fades
Works well. The very shiny ‘over-glazed’ look softens after a couple of days into a more natural gloss.

Absolutely the Best Glaze — My Go-To
I keep a bottle at all times. It restores older pieces that have become sticky and dries very hard and clear. Brushes rinse out easily and it stays non-sticky for years. I switched away from UV glazes because this holds up so well.
