T.Loop has been awarded the prestigious Energy Impact Award at the DCD Global Awards. This recognition highlights the company’s pioneering work in transforming underused commercial properties into sustainable data centers and marks progress toward a more climate-conscious data industry. Other winners across categories include Intel, Microsoft and Scala.
Data Energy Centers®: A new standard for sustainability and efficiency
T.Loop’s Data Energy Center® is built on a simple but revolutionary idea: use unused space in commercial buildings to operate data centers while reducing overall carbon emissions.

In our first project, completed in 2023, the data center was installed in the basement of an existing office building. By leveraging the building’s existing infrastructure—ventilation, cooling systems and unused network capacity—we were able to lower both costs and environmental impact. Waste heat produced by the servers is redirected to heat the property, covering 60% of the building’s heating needs without additional energy-intensive equipment.
Data Energy Center® achieves a negative climate impact of -8 tons CO2-equivalent per year per 10 MW IT load. Scaled across 10 MW of IT load, the concept could reduce emissions by nearly 80,000 tons CO2-equivalent—roughly the same as 300 cars circling the globe 1,000 times.
T.Loop’s approach demonstrates the potential to harness unused energy capacity in urban environments. Focusing on office buildings, industrial sites and shopping centers, T.Loop shows how sustainability and scalability can go hand in hand.
We are extremely proud of this recognition and grateful for the support of our partners. This award is not just a milestone for T.Loop—it proves that focused innovation can transform entire industries.
This is just the beginning. T.Loop envisions a future where cities’ underused resources become sustainable hubs for data centers. Together, we are shaping a greener tomorrow.
