Tap to Pay on iPhone accepts all forms of contactless payment, including contactless credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and other digital wallets, using only an iPhone and the CheckoutX app — no additional hardware or payment terminal required.
At checkout, the merchant simply asks the customer to hold their contactless payment method near the merchant’s iPhone, and the payment is completed using NFC technology. Tap to Pay on iPhone also supports PIN entry and accessibility options where available.

Apple’s Tap to Pay on iPhone technology leverages the iPhone’s built-in security features to keep business and customer data private and protected. When a payment is processed, Apple does not store card numbers or transaction details on the device or on Apple servers.
