The Norwegian IT provider Move has signed an agreement to acquire the leading Swedish data storage company Innovation Group. With this acquisition, Move expands its presence in Sweden and gains specialized expertise in data storage, backup and recovery.
“Today, cybersecurity is at the top of the agenda for most organisations, regardless of industry or size, due to a rise in serious cyberattacks. That is one of the reasons we are acquiring Innovation Group. The company fits perfectly within our core focus where security, backup and storage solutions are central,” says Roald Sannæs, CEO of Move.
This is Move’s second acquisition in Sweden, following the December 2024 purchase of AceIQ, a specialist in digital workplaces. Move is a leading Norwegian IT provider delivering solutions in cybersecurity, hybrid infrastructure, data storage and digital workplaces.
“Becoming part of Move is an excellent fit for us right now. We are a leader in Scandinavia for backup and recovery in large and complex IT environments, but we lack breadth. With Move we gain resources and expertise and can deliver more to our customers,” says Petter Larsson, CEO of Innovation Group.
Innovation Group was founded 20 years ago and has grown into Scandinavia’s leading provider of storage solutions for large enterprises with complex IT environments. Its customer base includes several of the largest and best-known brands in Sweden and Norway, both private and public sector organisations. The company’s core expertise centers on Veritas Backup—technology that was acquired by Cohesity in 2024. Innovation Group specialises in areas such as:
- Backup and recovery for physical, virtual and cloud-based environments.
- Protection of business-critical applications (SAP, Oracle, databases, etc.).
- Rapid recovery following outages or cyberattacks.
“The acquisition of Innovation Group provides us with specialist skills in high-growth areas. At the same time, we strengthen our presence in Sweden and gain access to new strategic customers that create cross-selling and upselling opportunities,” Sannæs continues in Move.
“Combined with Move’s expertise and resources, we can offer our customers even better solutions and services while continuing to be Scandinavia’s leading provider of advanced backup solutions,” says Larsson of Innovation Group.
The acquisition will lead to closer integration of the companies’ service portfolios and include continued collaboration with vendors such as Cohesity.
For Swedish companies, the deal strengthens access to advanced backup and data storage solutions, improving capabilities to protect critical systems, ensure business continuity and meet rising cybersecurity and regulatory requirements. For managed service providers (MSPs) across the Nordics, the combined offering brings a stronger package for backup, recovery and data protection—enabling new service development, partnerships and improved competitiveness in the region.
Consolidation in the IT market can reduce the number of suppliers while producing more comprehensive solutions. Opportunities lie in better integration, scalability and innovation, while risks include increased dependency on larger vendors and potential shifts in supplier strategies.
