At the turn of the year, the final standard for the next generation of wireless networking, Wi‑Fi 7, will be confirmed. Cisco is now rolling out new Wi‑Fi 7 products that enable significantly higher throughput and improved stability. The company is also introducing a new subscription model designed to simplify the transition between generations and to help organizations fully leverage the new capabilities.
Although the new network standard has not yet been formally finalized, during 2024 the Wi‑Fi Alliance—a trade organization in which Cisco is an active member—has begun certifying devices for this next generation.
Cisco’s Wi‑Fi 7 plans extend beyond the hardware itself. While higher performance alone can enable new and enhanced digital experiences across industries—from retail to manufacturing and healthcare—a platform capable of meeting those expectations is equally important.
Cisco’s new intelligent access points can be managed on‑premises or from the cloud, with seamless switching between the two. This is enabled by Cisco’s unified networking subscription—a single license that covers the full Cisco Wi‑Fi 7 solution. The aim is to let organizations confidently invest in wireless technology that can scale and evolve alongside their business.
With AI-driven performance optimizations and immediate self‑configuration, the wireless network becomes smarter—easier to operate and delivering better performance. The access points are deployable worldwide and can automatically detect their location as soon as they connect. Customers also gain access to the Cisco Spaces platform, now included in the subscription license, providing an operating layer to transform physical workplaces into smart spaces.
Security features are also AI‑enhanced, offering market‑leading capabilities for threat detection, device profiling, prevention, and advanced data encryption. Cisco ThousandEyes helps ensure every connected experience by using AI and automation to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across wireless, owned, and third‑party networks.
“Nearly everything we do now ties human behavior to sensors, cameras, or screens—physical experiences in an increasingly digital world. And Wi‑Fi sits at the center of that,” says Jeetu Patel, Cisco Chief Product Officer. “With Cisco’s Wi‑Fi 7 access points and Cisco Spaces, we provide the connectivity, security, and data required to reshape employee and customer experiences everywhere.”
Cisco’s Wi‑Fi 7 access points are available for pre‑order, with planned deliveries scheduled before the end of the year.
