German telecommunications giant Deutsche Telekom and enterprise application software leader SAP have announced an expansion of their partnership to include Internet of Things (IoT) solutions focused on real-time logistics.
Anette Bronder, Director of Telekom Security and T-Systems’ Digital Division, explained that businesses increasingly need end-to-end support across devices, connectivity, platforms and software. To meet those needs, Deutsche Telekom is broadening its IoT partner ecosystem. “To offer our customers the best, easiest-to-use and most secure solution for every specific need, we constantly expand our IoT partner ecosystem and are excited to extend our collaboration with SAP to the fields of IoT and smart logistics,” she said.
Tanja Rueckert, President of IoT & Digital Supply Chain at SAP, noted the natural fit between the two companies’ offerings. “Deutsche Telekom’s solutions complement the SAP Leonardo IoT portfolio—SAP’s enterprise-grade platform for digital innovation. By combining our strengths, we will deliver end-to-end solutions that turn connected devices into measurable business outcomes,” Rueckert said.
Under the agreement, both firms will develop and certify integrations between Deutsche Telekom’s IoT platforms and the SAP Cloud Platform. The joint effort aims to deliver a comprehensive and cost-effective package that includes connectivity, business application software, device tracking and monitoring, and implementation and support services tailored to logistics and supply chain requirements.
In addition to the logistics-focused collaboration, Deutsche Telekom demonstrated eSIM connectivity use cases with device and automotive partners. Working with eBike maker Greyp Bikes, the company showcased eSIM-enabled connectivity for the new G6 eBike. The G6’s integrated sensors capture riding behavior and environmental data to provide navigation prompts on an onboard display, while built-in cameras enable users to share footage directly to social media.
Deutsche Telekom also displayed how eSIM technology can connect vehicles to a customer’s mobile plan in partnership demonstrations with BMW. This approach allows drivers to access vehicle data, infotainment and other services that correspond to their personal tariff and profile, simplifying connectivity and service delivery across mobility scenarios.
The expanded collaboration between Deutsche Telekom and SAP targets companies looking to modernize logistics operations with real-time visibility, device-to-cloud connectivity, and software-driven workflows. By combining secure connectivity, certified integrations, and enterprise application expertise, the partners aim to help organizations reduce costs, improve operational efficiency and accelerate time-to-value from IoT deployments.
