Thomas Skarpsvärd Andersson Appointed CEO of Cyber Defencely

Cyber Defencely appoints Thomas Skarpsvärd Andersson as its new CEO. Andersson brings experience as a corporate lawyer in private SaaS companies and as a CISO in the public sector, adding proven capability in building successful technology businesses.

Rising cyber threats and new legal requirements drive demand

The increase in cyber threats together with the new Cybersecurity Act has created strong demand for Cyber Defencely’s expertise and for the free evaluation service Cyberresilient.se. Thomas steps into the role with a clear mandate to strengthen Cyber Defencely’s capacity to meet this broad and growing need.

“Thomas has precisely the combination of legal acuity, technical understanding and commercial sense that Cyber Defencely needs for its next phase. I am confident he is the right person to drive the company forward commercially,” says Emanuel Lipschütz, Chairman of the Board at Cyber Defencely.

New CEO with expertise in law and cybersecurity

Thomas Skarpsvärd Andersson is a lawyer who has served as Online Corporate Communications Manager at Electrolux, Head of Legal at the SaaS company Netigate, and most recently as CISO for Huddinge Municipality. In previous roles he has implemented ISO information security management systems and built a bespoke information security and data protection management system.

“The opportunities are enormous. A cybersecurity check in March showed that 90 percent of public authorities fail to meet information security regulations, and in the private sector many organizations still rely on fourteen separate Excel sheets with limited results. With Cyber Defencely’s expertise and unique technology, we can fundamentally transform how organizations manage their cyber hygiene,” says Thomas Skarpsvärd Andersson, new CEO of Cyber Defencely.
Daniel Reinholdsson will continue as Co-Founder & Head of Cybersecurity Advisory, remaining a central figure in the company with responsibility for team deliveries and representing Cyber Defencely’s advisory expertise externally.

Cybersecurity requires strategic leadership

The new Cybersecurity Act, which came into force in January, imposes stricter requirements on both public and private organizations and on suppliers to those organizations across 18 sectors. Cyber Defencely helps clients rapidly increase their ability to respond to threat landscapes and legal obligations through experienced expert teams, quality-assured processes and modern AI-driven tools. Cyber Defencely and its sister company Internetworking, with support from the Swedish Civil Defence Agency, developed the popular free service Cyberresilient. The service provides an assessment of an organization’s security posture and actionable recommendations to meet the new law’s requirements.
