Freja eID Group AB (publ) is expanding its ability to issue electronic identities to users from a total of 53 countries to meet growing customer demand for managing international users with secure e-identification. This expansion is part of Freja’s ongoing internationalization strategy.
Freja is a scalable ID wallet with international reach and, since its inception, has aimed to provide the smooth e-identification experience common in the Nordics to other countries. A key part of this internationalization is enabling Swedish public authorities, companies and organizations to authenticate international users. Historically, handling foreign users with passwords, SMS verification, postal letters or in-person visits has been cumbersome and less secure.

Previously, Freja covered all EU and EEA countries, as well as Ukraine and the United Kingdom. The latest expansion improves coverage across Europe with additional Balkan countries and adds nations such as the United States, Brazil, Japan and Malaysia to the Freja platform. In the long term, the ambition is to support all countries whose passports or ID cards meet Freja’s security requirements.
Increasing the number of nationalities eligible for e-identification enables smoother and more secure handling of international users for Swedish companies, public authorities and organizations. This can lead to more efficient processes and greater trust among both users and service providers.
Johan Henrikson, CEO of Freja eID Group, comments: “Freja offers a unique opportunity to provide Swedish customers with e-identification for international users. This also has commercial significance as it increases annual recurring revenue from customers that include foreign users compared with those that only serve Swedish users.”
As Freja continues to expand its international reach, new opportunities open for businesses and organizations to address a global audience while maintaining high security standards for user authentication and identity verification online.
