Tech startup Parking Time is accelerating. Since launching its new app, the company has secured several municipal contracts this spring and is rapidly approaching the broader market—with speed, a clear vision, and a commitment to both users and the future. Leading the charge is Matilda Öhman — a young female entrepreneur who is making her mark in the parking industry and demonstrating that change is possible.
“In just a few months, with a small team, we’ve taken big steps: a more robust and clearer app, several new municipal agreements, and a strong initial market position,” says Matilda.

The idea was born in 2021
The idea started when Matilda, then a university student, received her first parking fine for forgetting to display a parking disc. Her frustration over something so simple—having to go into a store to find a physical disc—sparked the idea.
“There has to be a smarter way,” she thought. And there was.
Since then, Parking Time has evolved. What began as a simple digital parking disc app has grown into a comprehensive platform challenging the parking industry.
New app version and a strong team
This spring the company released Parking Time 2.0—a faster, simpler, and clearer app designed to meet the rapid growth underway. That progress has been possible thanks to a strengthened team, including Johan E. Bengtsson as Chief Technology Officer.
“We’ve worked hard for three years, and now things are finally taking off. Building something that didn’t exist has been a challenge, sometimes requiring us to invent our own tools. But the feeling now, as we begin to scale seriously, is fantastic,” says Matilda Öhman, CEO and founder.
Listening to users — building for the future
Parking Time stands out not only for its technology but for its clear user focus. In an industry traditionally dominated by technical solutions, Matilda has chosen a different path that demonstrates the value of new perspectives.
As more providers gain the ability to offer their services, healthy competition emerges—spurring development that results in better service, smarter features, and more user-friendly apps. For drivers, this means more choices, clearer pricing, and a smoother parking experience.
Competition encourages innovation—and that is exactly where Parking Time wants to lead.
“We have always built closely with our users. We listen, adjust, and improve. It should be simple, accessible, and smart—no matter who you are or where you park. We aim to create a solution that is sustainable on multiple levels: technically, socially, and ethically,” she explains.
Rapid expansion — what’s next?
This spring Parking Time established itself in several new cities in just a few months. New partners have joined, including operations in Gothenburg, many more users have downloaded the app, and new features have been added.
“Our new version is built to scale quickly. We are ready for a larger market and look forward to the next steps this autumn,” Matilda says.
Building a values-driven company
For Parking Time, technology is only one pillar. Equally important is building a company grounded in values—where energy efficiency, inclusion, transparency, and responsibility inform everything from product development to customer interactions.
“We want to build more than an app. We want to be the fair parking app with the right values, focused on user experience and free from hidden fees. Making a real difference matters to us,” Matilda emphasizes.
With strong drive, a clear purpose, and a young female leader breaking new ground in the industry, Parking Time is more than a technical innovation—it’s a company proving that it’s possible to change an entire industry, step by step, parking space by parking space.
