Wilson GRT Zero-Prep Leather Game Football (Brown, Multiple Sizes)
Product description
Includes one brown Wilson GRT Game Football. Offered in junior and other standard sizes to fit youth practice or competitive play.
This model introduces a zero-prep leather developed to feel soft and playable right out of the box. The leather's low-pebble surface reduces stiffness and increases flexibility to mimic a broken-in ball without brushing or rubbing.
Accurate Control Lacing (ACL) is made from a pebbled synthetic material rather than smooth leather, giving more purchase in wet or dry conditions. The white stripes are sewn-on composite material instead of painted, which enhances surface texture and throwing consistency—Wilson states a significant increase in stripe grip compared with painted stripes.
Handcrafted in Ada, Ohio using exclusive S.B. Foot Tanning Co./Red Wing leather, the GRT meets the standards for competitive play at youth and high-school levels. Routine maintenance is minimal: occasional brushing to restore surface oils and water resistance will keep the ball performing.
Pros
- Game-ready zero-prep Red Wing leather
- Sewn-on composite stripes for added grip
- Pebbled synthetic laces for consistent handling
Cons
- Some customers report cosmetic peeling
- Occasional alignment or build inconsistencies
- Full leather feel may be stiff for casual use
VerdictThe GRT is a well-crafted, ready-to-play leather football that removes the usual break-in step. Its low-pebble leather and textured synthetic laces make handling easier for quarterbacks and youth players, while sewn-on composite stripes improve mid-flight grip. Some users report cosmetic or assembly issues, but overall it performs like a premium game ball approved for youth and high-school competi

Excellent materials, modest grip claim
Leather and construction are top-notch and the zero-prep feel is real. Sewn stripes and pebbled laces help handling, though the "82% more grip" claim felt optimistic.

Well-built with cosmetic issues
Top-grain leather and solid laces make a performance ball. Main drawback was the logo peeling immediately.
