Singtel has partnered with Tencent Games to launch a cloud gaming service that leverages 5G network slicing technology.
This collaboration represents the first nationwide deployment of 5G network slicing dedicated to a cloud gaming service, promising players a steadier, lower-latency experience both at home and on the move.
The rollout will include Honor of Kings (HoK) running on Singtel’s advanced 5G infrastructure. By using a dedicated, low-latency network lane, the service aims to remove common barriers for mobile gamers and deliver more competitive gameplay.
Because processing and rendering occur in the cloud, players won’t need high-end devices or large local downloads to enjoy top-tier gaming. This makes premium gaming accessible on a wider range of smartphones and tablets.
Singtel’s network slicing creates a dedicated path on the mobile network for specific applications, ensuring gaming traffic receives priority over general data flows. That prioritisation reduces the effects of congestion and provides a more consistent connection. The same network-slicing approach is also being applied to improve real-time processing for IoT devices and to support generative AI applications for smart glasses.
Keith Leong, Managing Director of Enterprise at Singtel Singapore, said the company is committed to enhancing the mobile gaming experience for Singapore’s gaming community. Deploying a nationwide 5G network slice for HoK delivers the ultra-low latency needed for seamless, competitive play anytime and anywhere.
Leong noted that while cloud versions of games have proven successful in other markets, no provider has implemented network slicing at this national scale. That capability, he said, elevates the cloud gaming experience and highlights the broader potential of Singtel’s 5G+ network for real-time cloud applications and digital innovation.
Honor of Kings, a leading mobile multiplayer online battle arena title with a large global audience, will begin a network slicing test phase in October 2025 using Tencent Cloud Gaming technology.
Sammy Chen, Vice General Manager of Cloud Gaming at Tencent Games, said the partnership reflects a close integration of 5G and cloud gaming that can substantially improve real-time interactive experiences for cloud gamers.
At the core of this offering is Singtel’s 5G+ network slicing. One important feature is an app-based policy that automatically routes a user’s cloud gaming traffic through a prioritised, dedicated network lane to ensure consistent performance.
In collaboration with Ericsson, Singtel has also implemented a 5G Advanced Latency Priority Scheduling system. This system identifies and prioritises time-sensitive game data—such as player inputs and in-game animations—to reduce delays that affect real-time play. To benefit fully from these features, players will need devices that support User Equipment Route Selection Policy (URSP).
The global cloud gaming market is forecast to grow rapidly, from an estimated $5.32 billion in 2025 to $39.57 billion by 2030. The Asia-Pacific region is expected to lead this growth, driven by widespread 5G rollouts and strong smartphone adoption for cloud gaming.
Alongside the network-slicing milestone, Singtel will launch a new digital content platform in Singapore called TxStore. Initially available for Android users, the platform will offer 30 popular games, including hits such as PUBG MOBILE.
Honor of Kings is planned to appear on TxStore in November 2025, with later expansion to the Google Play Store and additional platforms.
While gamers on any mobile operator can subscribe to titles on TxStore, Singtel customers will receive exclusive benefits, including up to 55% off in-game purchases and a $6 credit for new accounts.
This cloud gaming launch follows previous 5G innovations from Singtel, which has used network slicing for high-traffic public events like the National Day Parade and the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix.
Beyond entertainment, 5G network slicing has been applied to mission-critical uses across public safety, healthcare, and logistics, demonstrating its versatility for both consumer and enterprise applications.
