Sigma Energy Marine Named a Gaselle Company in Norway for Impressive Growth

The prestigious Gasell award is presented by Dagens Industri in Sweden and Dagens Næringsliv in Norway. The criteria include at least 100% revenue growth over four years and solid profitability. Sigma Energy & Marine AS, which has achieved an impressive 730% growth over four years, was recently named a Gasell company in Norway—a distinction earned by only about 2% of Norwegian companies.

Sigma Energy & Marine brings engineering expertise in offshore, subsea and renewable energy. The company is part of Sigma Industry and the Danir Group in Sweden, with operations in 17 countries. In 2018, Sigma Energy & Marine established operations in Norway with offices in Oslo and Stavanger.

“We have deep experience from large, complex projects and one of the strongest engineering teams in Scandinavia. In Norway we seized the opportunity to support the industry’s innovation edge, where companies develop, test and qualify tomorrow’s systems,” says Daniel Hermansson, Managing Director of Sigma Energy & Marine AS.

A Successful Establishment in Norway — And a Strategic Shift Toward Control and Safety

In 2020 the company broadened its focus to specialize in the IACS area (Industrial Automation and Control Systems), addressing both offshore and onshore needs. The company’s expertise now covers a wide range of systems and technologies, including advanced instrumentation solutions, station automation and sophisticated process control systems—particularly ESD/SIS and fire & gas systems—supplemented by its growth in OT cybersecurity.

A significant part of the overall control system focus is OT cybersecurity, designed to protect automated infrastructure on the seabed and platforms across the Norwegian continental shelf.

“Contributing to improved security for critical infrastructure is important, especially given today’s geopolitical climate and increased interest from foreign actors,” explains Daniel Hermansson.

  • Today we are proud to say we have transitioned from being a Swedish company operating in Norway to being a Norwegian company in Norway, thanks to our outstanding staff and their contributions to our success. The Gasell award confirms we are on the right path and motivates us to keep growing, Hermansson concludes.
