Miw Piw Natural Loofah Dish Sponge — 100% Biodegradable Kitchen Scrub
Product description
100% plant-based and compostable: These kitchen scrubbing pads are made entirely from natural loofah vegetable fibers and arrive wrapped in brown paper to minimize packaging waste. When the pads are worn out you can toss them onto your compost pile.
Built for durability: The firm portions of mature loofah are selected and stitched in four layers to create a thicker, tighter sponge. That denser construction keeps food debris from lodging inside the pad and gives each piece long service life — many users report months of regular use.
Thoughtful shape and features: Each sponge is molded in a water-drop profile so it works on nonstick pans, pots, glassware and dishes, and it will even sit inside smaller cups. A small loop at the top lets you hang the pad to dry quickly between uses, helping prevent mildew.
Performance and care: Dry, the loofah is firm; when wet it softens while remaining abrasive enough to remove stuck-on food without scratching surfaces. It foams well and tends to reduce how much dish soap you need. Quick drying and resistent to lingering smells, these pads are suitable for washing dishes, scrubbing produce, and general kitchen cleaning.
Who it’s for: Ideal for vegans, zero-waste households or anyone wanting to replace synthetic scrubbers with a natural alternative. The pads are gentle on hands and surfaces, and fully biodegradable when their useful life ends.
Pros
- Completely compostable and plastic-free
- Dense, multilayer construction resists debris and lasts
- Fast-drying with low odor and good lathering
Cons
- Not optimal for heavy, baked-on grime
- Some pieces are small or thin for larger tasks
- Can absorb more dish soap than synthetic sponges
VerdictA genuinely plastic-free scrub that balances gentle, non-scratch cleaning with surprisingly good durability. Excellent for everyday dish duty and produce cleaning; not the best choice for extremely baked-on grime, but ideal for those moving toward a zero-waste kitchen. Dries quickly, resists odor, and can be composted at end of life.

Truly plastic-free and effective
After trying many green options, these were the obvious winner. They scrub well without scratching and don’t contain plastic binders like some walnut or coir pads. I fold them to trap a little powdered soap, which stretches how much soap I need — tidy, low-impact cleaning.

Natural but fiddly
The pads are very natural-feeling, but each piece is quite small and takes time to fully hydrate. Not something I’d repurchase for my needs.

I’ll keep using these forever
We’re removing plastic from the home and these fit right in. They scrub, hold shape when wet, flex into corners and rinse clean. They hang and dry without molding or smelling. For burnt-on messes I soak first, then scrub — they’ve replaced every other sponge here.

Very pleased overall
These are wonderful — eco-friendly, reasonably abrasive without scratching, and they lather well. They expand when wet so dry storage is compact. Not for heavy-duty scrubbing, but perfect for everyday use.

Solid for most dishes
I like their sustainability and texture — soft, thin, flexible and easy on the hands. They don’t stink and hang to dry nicely. They aren’t as aggressive as a ScrubDaddy on baked-on grime though, so I alternate between them for heavy jobs.

A promising eco choice
I wanted a greener scrub and this delivered. It foams up, scrubs well and softens when wet. After aggressive use for weeks it didn’t fall apart, stayed odor-free and didn’t trap food. I even use pieces for bathing — gentle and soft when warm.

Could be larger
Good material but smaller than I expected; makes washing dishes a bit fiddly though I like the loofah fiber.

Too thin and pricey for size
Natural sponge but very thin in the pack; not great value given how small the pieces are and they’re hard to use for bigger jobs.

Too small
The pad is very small — I was disappointed by the size.

Great eco swap
They tackle dishes, pots and pans without scratching and are sturdy enough to last. Being 100% natural and compostable makes them a perfect zero-waste swap. I even use them to scrub vegetables — gentle yet effective.

Long lasting but absorbent
Cleans nicely and holds up, but my dish soap soaks into it and seems to disappear — I end up using more soap than with synthetic sponges.
