GlobalConnect has recruited Hans Jayatissa for a strategic key role charged with leading the company’s quantum initiative and overall quantum strategy. The Nordic fibre and data centre provider is strengthening its efforts to bring quantum-safe technologies to market and to increase security, resilience and competitiveness for organisations and companies across the Nordics.
Quantum technology is developing rapidly and is already reshaping how digital infrastructure must be protected. While the technology unlocks new capabilities, it also introduces heightened risks. The computational power of quantum computers has the potential to break many of the encryption methods in use today that protect business-critical and societally important information.

At the same time, quantum technologies offer new ways to strengthen security, for example through quantum encryption. GlobalConnect has been testing these technologies in its fibre network for several years and already provides solutions based on quantum-safe principles tailored for organisations with high requirements for availability and security.
Hans Jayatissa’s assignment will be to drive the commercialisation of these solutions and ensure they reach customers throughout the Nordics. He assumed the role on 1 October with a clear mandate to further develop and implement GlobalConnect’s overarching quantum strategy.
Jayatissa brings more than 30 years of experience in the IT industry. Most recently he worked at KMD, one of Denmark’s largest IT providers, where he served as Head of International Digitalization. He has previously held several senior and leadership positions at DXC, a global IT services company with a strong presence in digital transformation and critical infrastructure.
In his new role he will take the next step in GlobalConnect’s quantum initiative by integrating the technology into customer operations. This includes quantum-encrypted network links, monitoring of fibre cables, and training programmes to increase understanding of post-quantum security and emerging threat landscapes.
“Quantum technology is one of the most dynamic areas in the industry today. That makes GlobalConnect a natural fit for me, since we are one of the few providers already offering concrete quantum solutions. I am passionate about helping customers understand and harness the opportunities presented by new technologies. Quantum technology may still seem like science fiction, but it is something most organisations must begin to address now,” says Hans Jayatissa.
The role also involves close collaboration with startups and universities in research and development. Through these partnerships, GlobalConnect contributes practical experience in turning advanced technology into solutions that work in real operational environments and in critical societal infrastructure.
Quantum technology is expected to play a decisive role in securing future communications across both the public and private sectors. For Nordic organisations, early investments in quantum-safe networks will be a strategic competitive advantage as regulations, threat landscapes and demands for digital resilience continue to evolve.
