Buffy Cloud Cooling Comforter — Lightweight Eucalyptus Duvet Insert (King/Cal)
Product description
Awarded for its comfort engineering, this duvet insert uses Buffy’s SilkShape construction to create a plush, pillowy feel that’s often described as “sleeping on a cloud.” The comforter incorporates a high Q‑Max 0.21 surface rating—lab measured to outperform many common bedding fabrics—so the shell feels cool when you first lie down.
The fill is a down‑alternative made from eucalyptus‑based lyocell (TENCEL), selected for its moisture‑moving properties and soft hand. The outer fabric is a 300‑thread‑count sateen weave that promotes airflow while retaining a smooth, silky touch. The overall weight is designed for year‑round use: light enough for warm sleepers and humid nights, yet offering enough loft for milder cool weather.
Construction details include internal corner loops to anchor the insert inside a duvet cover and avoid bunching, plus a fluffy loft that decompresses quickly after unboxing. Sizes are offered for standard mattress dimensions up to King and California King.
On sustainability, the comforter upcycles post‑consumer plastic into the fill and emphasizes hypoallergenic benefits—eucalyptus fibers naturally resist dust mites and become softer with wear. Care instructions vary by model and label, so check the sewn care tag for the recommended cleaning method for your specific insert.

Letdown — sheds and feels heavier over time
Only four ties inside, and after a week it started to feel heavier. Fibers began coming out and it only feels cool without a duvet cover. Fabric seemed thin and prone to pilling; care label says dry clean only, which was disappointing.

Still my favorite after years
Bought a second one because the first has been my go‑to since 2019. I used it daily and nothing else I bought felt the same. I’ve gifted several to friends as well.

Contamination concern — avoid
The listing claimed US origin but it shipped from India and had no labels. It arrived vacuum sealed and, upon opening, we found live brown ticks inside. I believe this batch was compromised. Purchased from Ontario.

Care instructions conflict
Product page said washable but the sewn tag instructs Dry Clean only. I’ve asked the company for clarification and haven’t received a response.

Light and cool at first, got warm later
Initially it felt light and cool, but over time I started overheating and didn’t notice the breathable effect anymore. Might suit cooler months better than hot summers.

Not transparent about final costs
The company wasn’t clear about the total cost up front. That lack of transparency left a poor impression.

King size runs small
Really nice fabric and feel, but the king size didn’t drape enough on our standard king bed — we were frequently half uncovered. Returned it because the fit was too small for us.

Beautiful but too warm for hot sleepers
This is a very nice, luxurious comforter, but it ran hot for me. Even in a cold, unheated room I found myself sweating. If you tend to feel chilly, it will likely be perfect; if you overheat, beware.

Good down substitute, simple to dress
After switching off down for allergy reasons, I appreciated the minimal packaging and how easily it fluffed. It slid into a duvet cover with little fuss. It wrinkles, but that’s hidden in a cover; overall it’s comfortable.

Thin at first glance but cozy and temperature‑stable
I worried it looked too slim coming out of the box, but it fluffed up nicely and has a sleek, modern look. It keeps my body temperature steadier than my old heavy down, so I’m hopeful for summer nights. Feels well made and should hold up for years.

Top lightweight down alternative
I like that it’s a sustainable option to down. It’s light yet warm, very silky to the touch, and easier to maneuver into duvet covers. The corner tabs make a big difference in preventing bunching. Would buy another for a guest room.

Silky feel, stays cool without overheating
Packaging arrived compact and vacuum sealed in a slim cardboard box — felt like it hadn’t been handled after production. The outer fabric is very smooth and the insert bloomed quickly after a few shakes. I’d call it medium weight: great for someone who sleeps hot but won’t be enough alone on the coldest nights.

Like sleeping on a cloud — ages well
One year update: the fill redistributed a bit in the wash, but a short tumble and air‑dry restored its loft. It’s gotten softer with use and kept me cool during a humid summer. Highly recommend.
