Aduna, a venture formed by major telecom operators in partnership with Ericsson, has announced a collaboration with Sinch to accelerate global access to network APIs. This partnership aims to make network capabilities more accessible to developers and enterprises worldwide, supporting faster innovation across industries.
Launched in September 2024, Aduna was created to simplify and standardize access to network APIs so developers can build applications that work seamlessly across different mobile networks. By working with platform partners such as Google Cloud and Vonage—and now Sinch—Aduna is strengthening the ecosystem that enables developers to tap into advanced network services without the traditional barriers caused by fragmentation and incompatibility.
Sinch brings deep expertise in cloud communications and a portfolio of network APIs that allow businesses to embed voice, video, messaging, and verification functions into their applications and systems. Joining Aduna’s initiative will expand the reach of these capabilities and create new opportunities for secure, reliable communications across digital services.
As part of the collaboration, Sinch will extend the coverage of its Number Verify service through its omnichannel Verification API, improving phone number validation and authentication for customers everywhere. Sinch also plans to introduce a SIM Swap API designed to detect and mitigate SIM swap fraud, strengthening trust and safety for end users and helping businesses protect account access.
Sean O’Neal, Chief Product Officer at Sinch, said the partnership represents an important step forward for network APIs: “By working together with Aduna, we will empower enterprises to enhance security and streamline critical services such as two‑factor authentication. As demand grows for secure, scalable digital infrastructure, this collaboration lets operators provide advanced network features that support seamless and secure customer communications.”
The partnership addresses growing demand for secure and innovative digital infrastructure. By aligning their strengths, Aduna and Sinch aim to bridge the gap between mobile network capabilities and the needs of developers and businesses, enabling the next generation of digital services that rely on robust, interoperable network functions.
Anthony Bartolo, CEO of Aduna, emphasized the strategic value of the collaboration: “Partnering with Sinch is a crucial step toward Aduna’s goals. We are removing significant barriers for developers who want to leverage the full potential of mobile networks. Integrating Sinch’s expertise and global reach will allow developers across leading platforms to access advanced network capabilities through common APIs.”
With Sinch now participating in the Aduna initiative, the effort to create a cohesive global framework for network API access gains momentum. The collaboration helps developers take advantage of advanced mobile network features while avoiding the interoperability and fragmentation issues that have historically slowed adoption.
