Acronis Launches GenAI Protection: Tools for MSPs to Secure and Manage AI Use

Acronis, a global leader in cyber protection, today announced the launch of Acronis GenAI Protection. This monitoring and security solution enables managed service providers (MSPs) to control generative AI usage in customer environments, prevent exposure of sensitive data, and guard against malicious prompt manipulation. Acronis GenAI Protection is the first phase of the Acronis Cyber Workspace, with additional features planned to deliver a protected AI workspace natively integrated into the Acronis platform.

As organizations rapidly adopt generative AI tools, businesses face growing risks related to data leakage, shadow AI, and malicious prompt manipulation. Many consumer AI tools lack the visibility required for enterprise environments, while enterprise-grade solutions are not always designed for MSP delivery and management. Acronis GenAI Protection addresses this gap by providing a solution built specifically to monitor and secure generative AI use in small and medium-sized business (SMB) environments.

AI monitoring and security delivered via MSPs

Acronis GenAI Protection is designed to be deployed, managed, and commercially packaged by MSPs. Through a centralized console integrated into the Acronis platform, service providers can monitor AI usage across customer environments, enforce policies, generate reports, reduce risk, and protect generative AI interactions alongside data, applications, and endpoints.

“Generative AI adoption is accelerating, but it introduces new risks that many organizations are not yet prepared to manage,” said Gaidar Magdanurov, President at Acronis. “MSPs are uniquely positioned to help businesses adopt AI safely, but until now they lacked the right tools to monitor and manage it effectively. GenAI Protection enables MSPs to turn AI security into a managed service, creating new revenue opportunities while protecting customers from emerging threats.”

Built-in protection for generative AI use

Acronis GenAI Protection provides visibility and security for AI use without requiring additional point solutions or enterprise-level complexity.

Key features include:

  • Visibility into shadow AI usage: Discover and monitor generative AI applications used within customer environments to understand adoption levels and exposure to risk.
  • Protection of sensitive data during AI interactions: Inspect prompts for sensitive information such as PII or PHI and prevent unauthorized transfers to public or unsanctioned AI tools.
  • Defense against prompt injection and AI misuse: Detect and block malicious prompts designed to manipulate AI behavior or compromise workflows.

“AI is now mainstream for small and medium-sized businesses, with more than half using AI tools—a trend driven by market demand for scalability, productivity, and efficiency,” said Matthew Ball, Chief Analyst at Omdia. “Although most usage occurs via SaaS, the growing adoption of consumer AI—whether sanctioned or not—creates new security risks that MSPs must actively manage.”

As AI continues to evolve, Acronis plans to introduce additional AI-driven capabilities to protect, manage, and automate AI services and tools as part of the broader Cyber Workspace offering. These enhancements are designed to boost productivity and automation, enabling MSPs to streamline daily operations while strengthening protection of data and assets.

Acronis GenAI Protection is now generally available worldwide.
