The collaboration will modernize ABB’s digital infrastructure and establish a unified digital foundation to drive the company’s next phase of growth.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global leader in IT services, consulting and business solutions, has extended its 18-year partnership with ABB, a global leader in electrification and automation. The renewed agreement aims to modernize ABB’s global hosting operations, simplify its IT landscape and strengthen the digital platform that supports resilience and innovation.
As part of the collaboration, TCS will implement ABB’s Future Hosting Model, a next-generation modular IT framework designed to streamline systems. The model enables proactive operations, faster service recovery and continuous security assurance through its AI-driven Zero Ops framework.
The extension reinforces an already well-established partnership that has delivered significant progress for ABB. TCS will accelerate ABB’s Core Platform vision, focusing on large-scale modernization, enhanced self-service and automation, cloud migration and flexibility, as well as orchestration and resilience.
“Our expanded partnership with TCS strengthens ABB’s ability to deliver value to customers. By modernizing our hosting operations, we are creating a foundation for agility, faster innovation and improved reliability across the business,” says Alec Joannou, Group CIO at ABB.
ABB plans to transform its hosting landscape using advanced technologies that drive innovation and operational optimization. This transformation is intended to meet the company’s evolving needs with greater flexibility, higher quality and improved cost-efficiency. TCS’s AI frameworks will help ensure steady operations and high service quality across ABB’s global operations by minimizing manual intervention.
“TCS has been a trusted partner in ABB’s transformation journey for more than 18 years. Our latest milestone is not only a testament to our long-standing relationship but also a bold step toward reshaping ABB’s hosting landscape with a modular, future-proof architecture. At the core of the collaboration is a shared belief that technology should serve a higher purpose—empowering people, increasing agility and enabling intelligent, responsible operations. Together, we begin a transformative journey to build a platform-driven core that will unlock extraordinary levels of efficiency, autonomy and innovation for ABB’s global business,” says Anupam Singhal, President, Manufacturing at TCS.
TCS’s operational and industry-specific expertise, combined with ABB’s platforms, security and reliability, will create a resilient, efficient and future-ready foundation. In addition, TCS’s managed-services platform architecture will provide the flexibility needed for ABB’s business integration activities during mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. Built on a cloud-oriented operating model and data-driven governance, the environment will support ABB’s goals to reduce its carbon footprint.
Over the past 18 years, TCS has supported ABB in initiatives such as ERP implementations, cloud migrations and data center consolidation. This renewed collaboration builds on the foundation established over two decades to transform ABB’s infrastructure services and support the adoption of services that will help drive ABB’s next growth phase in electrification and automation, enabling faster innovation and greater business value.
“ABB is committed to building a modular, scalable hosting service that fosters agility and innovation. With TCS as our strategic partner, the Future Hosting Model reinforces this commitment and helps ensure operational excellence,” says Peter Alkema, Global Head of IS Technology and Platforms at ABB.
