World Capitals Ranked by Fastest and Slowest 5G Speeds

Ookla has released a new report identifying which world capitals currently enjoy the fastest 5G download speeds and which lag behind.

As the organization behind the widely used Speedtest service, Ookla draws on extensive real-world data collected from users to measure mobile and broadband performance across cities worldwide.

Oslo, Norway ranks first among world capitals for 5G performance, posting a median download speed of 526.74 Mbps. Seoul, South Korea follows in second place with 467.84 Mbps, while Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates ranks third with 421.26 Mbps.

At the other end of the spectrum, Cape Town, South Africa recorded the slowest 5G median download speed in Q1–Q2 2021, at 53.33 Mbps. Brasilia, Brazil (62.18 Mbps) and San Juan, Puerto Rico (72.59 Mbps) rounded out the slowest three capitals for 5G speed during the same period.
