Leto Bank, part of VTB Group — a leading Russian financial group specializing in consumer lending — has completed implementation of the WINGS technology platform to provide mobile services via SMS, IVR, USSD and other channels.
The WINGS platform serves as a comprehensive on-premises SMS gateway for the bank: it accepts send requests from bank systems, formats messages according to configurable templates, routes messages via mobile operators and aggregators, transmits messages and tracks delivery statuses. In addition, it acts as an integration server for various banking systems and supports sending letters by post, email and running marketing campaigns. The platform is classified as “Mission Critical.”
Given Leto Bank’s business processes, the bank required more than a basic SMS gateway — it needed an intelligent platform capable of high-speed message processing and filtering. The platform’s integration capabilities and the successful six-year experience of VTB24 (part of VTB Group) with WINGS were decisive factors in the bank’s selection of this system.
WINGS stands out among SMS solutions used in the Russian banking sector because it supports multiple channels in a single system: SMS, USSD, bulk calls with text-to-speech, email and more. Other vendors typically offer either reliable but less flexible solutions from banking system suppliers or SMS systems from providers that were developed for their own use and therefore are less documented, less portable and not as widely applicable as WINGS.
“WINGS is a reliable and scalable solution that can be adapted to business needs,” says Igor Starkov, head of WINGS. “The product has over one hundred implementations and connects to more than one hundred mobile operators and aggregators worldwide. Our team has accumulated extensive experience in implementation, support and client training over ten years.”
WINGS provides 24-hour technical support for Leto Bank. The bank is currently evaluating deployment of WINGS USSD modules and outbound calls with speech synthesis.
Among WINGS customers are major banks such as Sberbank, VTB24 and GE Money Bank. WINGS is a market leader in Russia for technological platforms that deliver mobile services.

The WINGS platform is an industrial-grade solution operating in 30 countries. Built on a service-oriented architecture (SOA), it is designed for flexibility, high performance and reliability.
WINGS offers delivery, implementation and maintenance of the following banking solutions:
- WINGS Notification Server provides a unified interface to engage current and prospective clients across multiple channels: SMS, USSD, voice calls with text-to-speech, email, fax and push notifications.
- WINGS SMS Gateway is a universal tool that ensures reliable SMS handling for all the bank’s information systems. It integrates seamlessly into existing infrastructure without requiring changes to current applications. The gateway supports redundant transmission channels, monitors provider quality, automatically fails over to backup channels when needed, selects channels based on message priority and balances traffic across links.
- Bulk Calls System enables large-scale outbound calling campaigns and telemarketing. Key benefits include optimizing contact center performance (scheduling operator reservations, bulk outbound dialing and connecting operators only to relevant clients) and automating personalized communications (intelligent automated calls that reduce need for live call center staff).
Major banks such as Sberbank, VTB24 and GE Money Bank have implemented the WINGS platform.
