Shortage of technical expertise is an increasing threat to Sweden’s position as a leading nation of innovation and engineering. With the initiative Experts of Tomorrow, Sigma Group is stepping up to reverse this trend by inspiring more young people to pursue technical education and by keeping the issue high on the agenda for industry and policymakers.
Sigma Group believes that smarter, more efficient and cleaner technology is essential to meet both today’s and tomorrow’s societal challenges. At the same time, a growing shortage of technical skills and engineers risks slowing innovation and growth across the economy.
“Engineering and technology are fundamental to Sweden’s standing as a leading tech nation. But without enough people with the right skills, innovation and development stall. That is why we want to take responsibility—by inspiring the next generation and by reminding industry and decision-makers of the importance of long-term investments in technical skills,” says Johan Glennmo, Chairman of Danir, owner of Sigma Group.
Through the campaign Experts of Tomorrow, Sigma aims to ensure that technical skills supply remains a visible and urgent topic, and to remind both industry and politicians of their shared responsibility for future competence.
Last year’s podcast, “The Search for Tech Interest”, explored why fewer young people choose technical education. That effort is now followed by a commercial film highlighting tomorrow’s experts and the innate curiosity children have for technology—curiosity Sigma wants them to keep when they choose their future education.
Every day, Sigma Group’s employees work on assignments that make organisations, communities and solutions more efficient, better and future-proof. Their staff see it as a natural part of their mission to contribute to a strong and competitive technology sector, which is why there is strong internal commitment to supporting the experts of tomorrow.
“We see every day what engineering achieves and we know there must be more of us ready to tackle tomorrow’s challenges. For us, this is not only about our own business but about safeguarding Sweden’s future capacity for innovation,” concludes Fredrik Hedlund, CEO of Danir, owner of Sigma Group.
Sigma Group drives the Experts of Tomorrow initiative to strengthen technical skills in Sweden by inspiring young people towards technical education, advocating long-term competence supply, and supporting future experts in technology, innovation and societal development.
